Marc Egerson (born 1986) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Saint John Mill Rats of the National Basketball League of Canada.

Before going professional, Egerson was an American college basketball player for the University of Delaware Blue Hens men's basketball program. He was named to the 2009 National Association of Basketball Coaches Division 1 All-District 10 First Team^[1] and was named to the 2009 All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team.^[2]

Biography

High School career

Egerson was born in Wilmington, Delaware. He began his high school basketball career at Thomas McKean High School in 2001–02. He then transferred tdo Glasgow High School. While playing for Glasgow, he was selected as the 2003 and 2004 Delaware High School Player of the Year. In 2003 Egerson lead the Dragons to a Delaware State Championship. Egerson transferred to Lutheran Christian for the 2004–05 season, his senior season.^[3]

College career

Egerson played the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons at Georgetown. In the 2006–07 season Egerson played thirteen games and started three while averaging 7.5 points and 4 rebounds a game.^[3] He then transferred to Delaware in the fall of 2007. After sitting out the first seven games of the 2007–08 season due to NCAA transfer rules, Marc started the final twenty-four games that season. He averaged 13.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3 assists. Marc was recognized for his achievement on the court with a Third Team All-CAA selection.^[4] Egerson improved on his 2007–08 season in 2008–09 by averaging 15.6 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists a game. Marc was the only player that season to average more than 15 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 assists.^[5] Marc ranked 15th in rebounds and was one of seventeen players in NCAA Division I to average at double-double. Egerson was awarded for his efforts with a selections to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 10 First Team and the First Team All-CAA.^[6]

Professional career

He worked out for Doc Rivers in a predraft camp with the Boston Celtics in the summer of 2009. Prior to the 2009–2010 season, Egerson signed with Ironi Nahariya from the Israeli Basketball Super League, until December 2010. The Saint John Mill Rats selected the former Georgetown Hoya 6'7 235 lb forward with the 4th overall pick in the 2010/2011 Premier Basketball League Draft. He is the team's leading scorer in the pre-season.

Mason Alexander Plumlee is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He primarily plays the forward and center positions. As a freshman in 2009–10, he was a back-up forward for the Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team's national championship team, playing with his older brother Miles. He was a 2009 McDonald's All-American in high school. During his senior year at Duke, he also played with his younger brother Marshall. He was selected with the 22nd overall pick by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2013 NBA draft. Plumlee was also a member of the United States national team that won a gold medal in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The 2007 Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens football team represented the University of Delaware as a member of the South Division of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) during the 2007 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by sixth-year head coach K. C. Keeler, the Fightin' Blue Hens compiled an overall record of 11–4 with a mark of 5–3 in conference play, tying for third place in the CAA's South Division. Delaware advanced to the NCAA Division I Football Championship playoffs, where the Fightin' Blue Hens beat Delaware State in the first round, Northern Iowa in the quarterfinals, and Southern Illinois in the semifinals before losing to Appalachian State in the NCAA Division I Championship Game. The team played home games at Delaware Stadium in Newark, Delaware.

Jerrelle Benimon is an American former professional basketball player. In college, he was the 2012–13 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year as a redshirt junior after leading the Towson Tigers to the greatest single-season turnaround in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I history; the Tigers finished with a 1–31 record in 2011–12 before completing an 18–13 season the following year. Benimon also tied for the second-highest rebounding average (11.2) in Division I behind only Siena's O. D. Anosike's 11.4 per game average. Benimon repeated as the player of the year as a senior in 2013–14 and, coincidentally, finished second in the national rebounding average for a second consecutive season (11.2).

The 2017–18 Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens women's basketball team represents the University of Delaware during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Fightin' Blue Hens, led by first year head coach Natasha Adair, play their home games at the Bob Carpenter Center and were members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). They finished the season 19–13, 11–7 CAA play to finish in fourth place. They advanced to the semifinals of the CAA women's tournament where they lost to Drexel. They received an at-large to the Women's National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to Georgetown.

Matthew "Mac" McClung is an American professional basketball player for the Osceola Magic of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He was a consensus three-star recruit and among the highest-ranked high school players in Virginia.
