Marcela Soledad Torres (born 4 October 1988) is an Argentine-born Swedish artistic gymnast. [1]
Marcela Torres was born on 4 October 1988 in Argentina, and she moved to Sweden in 2012. She became eligible to represent Sweden in 2015. [1]
Torres competed on vault at the 2015 European Championships, and she was the third reserve for the event final. [2] She won the all-around title at the 2015 Swedish Championships. [3] At the Anadia World Cup, she finished 5th in the vault event final. [4] At the 2015 Belgium-Sweden-Austria Friendly, the Swedish team finished 2nd. [5] She then competed at the 2015 World Championships with Ece Ayan, Stina Lovisa Estberg, Emma Larsson, Veronica Wagner, and Kim Singmuang, and the team finished 22nd. [6]
At the 2016 Doha World Cup, Torres finished 5th on vault. [7] She won the gold medal on vault at the 2016 Nordic Championships. [8] At the 2016 Swedish Championships, she won gold medals in the all-around, vault, and balance beam. [9] She competed on vault at the 2016 European Championships and was the third reserve for the event final. [10]
Torres won the gold medal in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam at the 2017 Swedish Championships. [11] She then won the gold medal on the vault at the 2017 Northern European Championships. [12] She won the silver medal in the all-around behind Jessica Castles at the 2018 Swedish Championships. Alexa Citlali Moreno Medina is a Mexican artistic gymnast. She is the 2018 World bronze medalist on vault, the first Mexican female gymnast to medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She represented Mexico at the 2016 Summer Olympics where she was the second reserve for the all-around final and at the 2020 Olympics where she placed fourth in the vault final. Rebeca Rodrigues de Andrade is a Brazilian artistic gymnast. She is the 2020 Olympic and 2021 World champion on the vault and 2022 World all-around champion. Andrade is the first Brazilian female gymnast to medal at an Olympic Games, and she is only the second Brazilian woman to win a gold medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She is also the 2020 Olympic silver medalist and the 2021 Pan American champion in the all-around and won silver on the uneven bars at the 2021 World Championships and a bronze on the floor exercise at the 2022 World Championships.
