Marcos Alejandro Torregrosa is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner.
He had his first experience with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA in Bayamon, Puerto Rico where UFC 8 took place. Torregrosa began training in July 1999. Once he began, he knew this was his calling and gave it his all, training two practices a day. Torregrosa was awarded a black belt in January 2007.
UFC 8: David vs. Goliath was a mixed martial arts (MMA) pay-per-view event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on February 16, 1996, at Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. It is the only UFC event held in Puerto Rico and was later released on home video.
In 2008 Torregrosa became the head instructor at Capital City Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. While teaching at Capital City Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Torregrosa developed Yemaso Jiu-Jitsu, a style of Jiu-Jitsu designed to bring success at competitions. Torregrosa founded Team Yemaso in 2009, which consisted of a small team of his best students. Team Yemaso found much success in local, regional and world tournaments. Team Yemaso has acquired many team titles in a short period due to the focus and efficiency stressed in class.
In May 2011 Torregrosa became a member of Team Lloyd Irvin, and in August 2011 decided to open his own Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in the Sacramento area. [1] As of 2013 Torregrosa no longer affiliates himself with any team other than Yemaso Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and in February, Torregrosa and Team Yemaso made history and became the first team in the greater Sacramento, CA area to win an International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Team Title.
As of September 2013 Torregrosa receives his Second Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from the IBJJF and closes out the 2013 year as the number one ranked black belt in both his division (Leve/Light Weight) and Absolute (all weight divisions) with the kimono. He also holds the number one ranking without the kimono (no gi) in his division (Leve/Light Weight) and is ranked 9th overall Absolute no gi completing his most productive year to date as a black belt.
In February 2014 Torregrosa leads his team to a second place team title for the second consecutive year at an IBJJF event.
In February 2015 Team Yemaso competed and brought back to Sacramento, CA their third team title (3rd place) at an IBJJF event under the guidance of Torregrosa.
In October 2016 Torregrosa received his Third Degree Black Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from the IBJJF.
Marcelo Garcia is a Brazilian grappler and jiu-jitsu competitor who was widely considered to be one of the best grapplers and arguably the best pound for pound submission grappler in the world. Garcia is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Fabio Gurgel of Team Alliance.
The World Jiu-Jitsu Championship is the most prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) tournament in the world. Hosted annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the first World Championship was held in 1996 at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The tournament has grown to over 1,650 competitors. The first Mundial tournament to be held outside of Brazil was in 2007 at California State University, Long Beach in Long Beach, California, United States.
Felicia Linda Oh is an Asian American submission grappling competitor and martial arts instructor. Oh earned her black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under senior instructor Jean Jacques Machado.
Roberto "Spider" Traven is a retired Brazilian mixed martial artist whose fighting style is based in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission wrestling. He was a sporty person growing up, it took him 16 years to find Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but straight away he picked up tuition with one of the most highly decorated coaches of all time, Romero Cavalcanti AKA “Jacaré”. His natural ability for BJJ was clear from the get-go and the fact that he was obstinate made a recipe for a good fighter. Training 3 times per day alongside other historical figures such as Fabio Gurgel, Leo Vieira, Jamelão and many others, Traven managed to reach the grade of black belt within 4 years, an almost record breaking time frame in BJJ.
Alberto Lewis Crane is an American mixed martial artist. He currently fights as a lightweight. He has fought in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is a former King of the Cage and Ring of Fire lightweight champion.
Vinicius "Vinny" de Magalhães, is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who competes in the Professional Fighters League's Light heavyweight division. A professional competitor since 2006, he was a finalist in The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir and has fought five times within two stints with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is the former Titan FC Light heavyweight Champion, M-1 Global Light heavyweight Champion and is also a multiple time World jiu-jitsu gi and no-gi world champion. Magalhães currently fights in the light heavyweight division of the Professional Fighters League.
Anthony "Tony" Bonello is an Australian former professional mixed martial artist and grappler. A professional competitor since 2000, he competed for EliteXC, King of the Cage and Pancrase. Bonello is the former King of the Cage Middleweight Superfight Champion, the former King of the Cage Light Heavyweight Champion, and the former King of the Cage Cruiserweight Champion.
Leandro Vieira is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor and competitor and a co-founder of Checkmat. He is also the Brazilian jiu-jitsu head coach for the MMA team at American Kickboxing Academy, renowned for being one of the most successful teams in the world.
Carlos "Português" Vieira is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighter and teacher. He began training in 1992 after trialing a class with friends. Since then he has won various titles including European Champion, Pan American Champion and Brazilian National Champion.
Ailson Henrique Brites is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) expert and World Champion 6th degree black belt under Carlos Gracie Jr.
Carlos "Escorrega" Lemos, Jr. is a multiple World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Pioneer in Scandinavia, as well as the first Brazilian to teach martial arts in South Korea. Carlos is the Regional Director of Gracie Barra in the Chicago area, and is currently a fourth-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Master Carlos Gracie, Jr.

Luís Eduardo 'Selvagem' Fraga is a Brazilian martial artist with a 5th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Eduardo Fraga is an instructor of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Fraga is known for his dynamic teaching style with a focus on strength, conditioning, and the students' technique. He began his training at the age of 6, under Roberto Lage of São Paulo, Brazil. Professor Lage awarded Eduardo Fraga his black belt at the age of 22. Eduardo trained in São Paulo, Brazil under Ryan Gracie. In Brazil, Eduardo Fraga competed in the MMA Vale Tudo tournaments from 1995 to 1997.
Josh Griffiths is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) practitioner, and an instructor of the sport in New York. Griffiths is a black belt in BJJ. He was champion of the 2011 Abu Dhabi Pro Canadian Trials, 2011 Abu Dhabi Pro New Jersey Trials, 2010 NAGA No Gi Expert Division, and 2010 Abu Dhabi Pro Canadian Trials.
