Marcus Wibberley (born 1981) is a British organist, conductor and choir trainer.
Marcus Wibberley was a Chorister at Westminster Abbey under Martin Neary and subsequently attended Dulwich College as a Music Scholar. In the sixth form, he became the first Organ Scholar of the newly reestablished Choral Foundation at the college, originally established in 1626 by founder Edward Alleyn. [1] He was appointed Organ Scholar at Chichester Cathedral on leaving school in 1999 and later to the same position at York Minster in 2003 after graduating from the University of Hull with a First in Music (majoring in performance). While an undergraduate at Hull, he had combined his studies with being University Organist & Director of the Chapel Choir and Assistant Organist at nearby Beverley Minster. His organ teachers included Martin Baker (organist), John Scott Whiteley and David Sanger (organist).
Marcus Wibberley became Sub-Organist of Portsmouth Cathedral and the Diocesan Music Adviser for the Anglican Diocese of Portsmouth in 2005. As Diocesan Music Adviser, he ran pioneering schemes to provide free organ tuition for school children and adult parish organists throughout the diocese, and introduced singing and church music to school children and their teachers. As Cathedral Sub-Organist, he accompanied the Cathedral Choir on a number of foreign tours, highly acclaimed BBC broadcasts and CD recordings.
In 2011 he was appointed Director of Music & Organist of Hexham Abbey, where his responsibilities included training and directing the Abbey Choirs. In addition to the four weekly choral services at the Abbey, he appeared with the choir in concert elsewhere in the UK and in Germany, Belgium and Estonia. He was also Festival Director of the annual Hexham Abbey Festival of Music & Arts, [2] for which he developed the scope of the programme, made the festival international by incorporating eminent artists from abroad and increased performance opportunities and exposure for young artists about to embark on their professional careers.
Marcus Wibberley returned to his native south London in 2017 and has been active in church music and the central London concert scene. [3] He has worked at St John's, Smith Square, St George's Church, Beckenham and St Dunstan's College, and has directed the South London Singers, [4] the St George's Chamber Orchestra [5] and the Chameleon Arts Orchestra. [6] In August 2018 he served on the faculty of the RSCM Nigeria National Summer Course and Conference in Lagos, and in 2019 he took the choir of St George's Beckenham to The Vatican to sing Mass at St. Peter's Basilica.
Marcus Wibberley is in demand as a recitalist, and has travelled extensively. Solo recitals have been given in prominent venues in Japan, Nigeria, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Estonia, as well as most of the major cathedrals and abbeys in the UK.
Hexham Abbey is a Grade I listed place of Christian worship dedicated to St Andrew, in the town of Hexham, Northumberland, in Northeast England. Originally built in AD 674, the Abbey was built up during the 12th century into its current form, with additions around the turn of the 20th century. Since the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1537, the Abbey has been the parish church of Hexham. In 2014 the Abbey regained ownership of its former monastic buildings, which had been used as Hexham magistrates' court, and subsequently developed them into a permanent exhibition and visitor centre, telling the story of the Abbey's history.

Archer was formerly Organist and Director of Music at Wells Cathedral and at St Paul's Cathedral and Director of Chapel Music at Winchester College. Leeds Minster, or the Minster and Parish Church of Saint Peter-at-Leeds,, in Leeds, West Yorkshire is a large Church of England foundation of major architectural and liturgical significance. A church is recorded on the site as early as the 7th century, although the present structure is a Gothic Revival one, dating from the mid-19th century. It is dedicated to Saint Peter and was the Parish Church of Leeds before becoming a Minster in 2012. It has been designated a Grade I listed building by English Heritage.
Andrew Cantrill FRSA is a British-born organist and choral director. He has held cathedral positions in New Zealand and the United States, and was organist of the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook, Suffolk until September 2018. He is a Fellow, prize-winner and former Trustee Council member of the Royal College of Organists, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is a tutor for the RCO Academy Organ School, an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, an active recitalist, and a sought-after broadcaster, writer and presenter.
Saint Peter's Singers (SPS) is a chamber choir associated with Leeds Minster, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England that celebrated during the Season 2017/2018 the fortieth anniversary of the choir's formation by Harry Fearnley in 1977. An anniversary concert took place at Leeds Minster on Sunday 25 June 2017 with the National Festival Orchestra and soloists Kristina James, Joanna Gamble, Paul Dutton and Quentin Brown. Further anniversary year events included Bach Cantatas and Music for Christmas at Fulneck Church in August and December respectively, Handel Coronation Anthems at Holy Trinity, Boar Lane as part of the Leeds Handel Festival in September and a tour of East Anglia in October. In November at Leeds Town Hall, the Singers participated in Herbert Howells's masterpiece Hymnus Paradisi with Leeds Philharmonic Chorus and Leeds College of Music Chorale under the direction of Dr David Hill with the Orchestra of Opera North. 2018 began with a concert of Sacred Choral Masterworks at Leeds Town Hall in February and Bach's Mass in B minor at Leeds Minster on Good Friday 2018 in memory of long-serving member Jan Holdstock. The final concert of the current season takes place at Leeds Minster on Sunday 24 June at Leeds Minster at 5.30. At this event will be presented the first performance of a new work from composer Philip Moore commissioned for the Singers' 40th anniversary – the motet Tu es Petrus – along with music by E W Naylor, Arvo Part, Sir Hubert Parry, Judith Bingham and Maurice Durufle. Simon Lindley conducts and the organist is David Houlder.
The Southern Cathedrals Festival is a 5-day music festival held on rotation among the cathedrals of Chichester, Winchester and Salisbury in England, in the penultimate week of July. The festival was restored in 1960 after initial attempts to create the annual occasion - such efforts led to 28 years without it. The directors of music act as festival director when it is their cathedral's turn to host the event - currently, they are Charles Harrison, Andrew Lumsden and David Halls.
