Marek Zakrzewski (born 18 December 2005) is a Polish track and field athlete who competes as a sprinter. [1]

Career

A product of the Young Athlete Academy in Słupsk, Zakrewski was selected to compete at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia in August 2022, aged 16 years-old. [2] Earlier that summer he won gold at the 2022 European Athletics U18 Championships in the 100 metres. [3]

In 2023, Zakrzewski completed a double with gold medals in both the 100 metres and 200 metres at the 2023 European Athletics U20 Championships aged 17 years-old. [4] He set a new personal best time of 10.25 seconds for the 100 metres. [5] He set a new personal best of 23.64 in winning the 200 metres. [6] He was the first man to do the sprint double in the competitions since Darren Campbell in 1991. [7]

He was selected as part of the Polish 4x100m team for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August 2023. [8]

In January 2024, he beat the European U20 indoor 200 metres record, running 20.80 in Luxembourg. [9] He ran as part of the Polish 4x100m relay team at the 2024 World Relays Championships in Nassau, Bahamas. [10]

A double Commonwealth Games, double European Championships gold medalist as part of the 4 x 100 metres relay, Hughes has twice been European champion individually; over 100 metres in 2018, and 200 metres in 2022. In 2023, he broke both British sprint records, before winning his first global individual medal, a bronze in the 100 metres at the 2023 World championships.

Noah Lyles is an American professional track and field sprinter competing in the 100 meters and 200 meters. He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic 200 m bronze medalist and a six-time World champion, having won the 200 m and 4 × 100 m at the 2019 World Championships, the 200 m at the 2022 World Championships, and the 100 m, 200 m, and 4 × 100 m events at the 2023 World Championships, becoming the first man since Usain Bolt in 2015 to complete the sprint treble at a World Championships. At the 2022 Championships, Lyles also earned a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay. He holds personal bests of 9.83 seconds for the 100 m and 19.31 seconds for the 200 m, the latter being an American record making him the third fastest on the respective world all-time list.
