Margot Chevrier (born 21 December 1999) is a French track and field athlete who competes in the pole vault. She is a multiple French national champion, indoors and outdoors. [1]

Early and personal life

From Nice, Chevrier started athletics in 2012. She combines her Athletics training with studying medicine. [2]

Career

In June 2022 Chevrier claimed her third consecutive French national pole vault title. [3]

Chevrier reached the final of the Women's pole vault at the 2022 World Athletics Championships held in Eugene, Oregon in July 2022, but did not register a height in the final. [4] Competing in the Women's pole vault at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich in August 2022, Chevrier finished tenth overall. [5]

In February 2023 she claimed her fourth consecutive national pole vault title, 2 indoors and 2 outdoors. [6]

She set a new personal best height of 4.71m to finish second at the Paris Diamond League event on 9 June 2023. [7] She competed at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. [8]

She finished in eighth place at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow. During the event she suffered a broken ankle which halted the competition for 15 minutes while she received medical treatment and was stretchered from the arena. [9]

Renaud Lavillenie is a French pole vaulter. Lavillenie won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in London and the silver medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. In addition to his Olympic success, he has won three World Indoor Championships gold medals (record), three European Championships gold medals and four European Indoor Championships gold medals. He has also won one silver medal and four bronze medals at the World Championships. As of 25 August 2016, he holds the French national records for the highest pole vault clearance both outdoors and indoors. The 6.16 was the absolute world record for the pole vault for over six years, 2014–2020. Her personal best of 4.21 metres, set in 2006, was the Tunisian record for the event until it was surpassed by Dorra Mahfoudhi in Rabat 2019.
