The Kentucky General Assembly,also called the Kentucky Legislature,is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Kentucky. It comprises the Kentucky Senate and the Kentucky House of Representatives.
The Kentucky Senate is the upper house of the Kentucky General Assembly. The Kentucky Senate is composed of 38 members elected from single-member districts throughout the Commonwealth. There are no term limits for Kentucky senators. The Kentucky Senate meets at the Kentucky State Capitol in Frankfort annually beginning in January. Sessions last for 60 legislative days in even-numbered years and 30 legislative days in odd-numbered years.
The Kentucky House of Representatives is the lower house of the Kentucky General Assembly. It is composed of 100 Representatives elected from single-member districts throughout the Commonwealth. Not more than two counties can be joined to form a House district,except when necessary to preserve the principle of equal representation. Representatives are elected to two-year terms with no term limits. The Kentucky House of Representatives convenes at the State Capitol in Frankfort.
John Allan Yarmuth is a retired American politician and newspaper editor who served as the U.S. representative for Kentucky's 3rd congressional district from 2007 to 2023. His district encompassed the vast majority of the Louisville Metro Area. From 2013 onward,he had been the sole Democratic member of Kentucky's congressional delegation. Yarmuth chaired the House Budget Committee from 2019 to 2023. On October 12,2021,he announced that he would not seek reelection in 2022.

Established in 1846,it is the oldest law school in Kentucky and the fifth oldest in the country in continuous operation. The law school is named after Justice Louis Dembitz Brandeis,who served on the Supreme Court of the United States and was the school's patron. Following the example of Brandeis,who eventually stopped accepting payment for "public interest" cases,Louis D. Brandeis School of Law was one of the first law schools in the nation to require students to complete public service before graduation.
Steven Brett Guthrie is an American businessman and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Kentucky's 2nd congressional district since 2009. The district is in central Kentucky and includes Fort Knox,Owensboro,Bowling Green,and a portion of eastern Louisville. Guthrie previously served as a Republican member of the Kentucky Senate.
Larry Lee Belcher was an American educator,county zoning administrator,and Democratic member of the Kentucky House of Representatives. He represented Kentucky's 49th House district,which includes parts of Bullitt County. Belcher was killed in a car accident in 2008. His wife Linda,a former elementary school principal,replaced Belcher on the 2008 ballot. She was subsequently elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives in 2008 and was reelected in 2010. She lost in 2012,won again in 2014,lost in 2016,and won a special election to return to the legislature in February 2018.

Outside of politics,she has worked as a teacher and in various managerial positions,and she has been affiliated with several women's organizations and political or charitable organizations.
