Eva Marianne Gernandt Lundius (born 28 April 1949) is a Swedish lawyer and judge, who served as Chairwoman of the Supreme Court of Sweden from 2010 to 2016. She was appointed Justice of the Supreme Court in 1998 and was the first female President of the Supreme Court of Sweden. [1]

Biography

Lundius comes from a family of lawyers; both her mother and grandmother worked in the legal profession, making her third-generation lawyer on her mother's side. She graduated from Lund University with a Candidate of Law degree in 1976 and served as a district court clerk for two years after graduating. In 1978 she joined the Lagerlöf och Leman law firm and worked there for 20 years, mainly on tax law and business law cases, before being appointed Justice of the Supreme Court of Sweden in 1998. In 2010 she succeeded Johan Munck as President of the Supreme Court. [2]

She is married to Johan Gernandt, lawyer and Moderate Party politician.

Joan Ruth Bader Ginsburg was an American lawyer and jurist who served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1993 until her death in September 2020. Supreme Court of Sweden

The Supreme Court of Sweden is the supreme court and the third and final instance in all civil and criminal cases in Sweden. Before a case can be decided by the Supreme Court, leave to appeal must be obtained, and with few exceptions, leave to appeal can be granted only when the case is of interest as a precedent. The Supreme Court consists of 16 Justices who are appointed by the government, but the court as an institution is independent of the Riksdag, and the Government is not able to interfere with the decisions of the court.

Shirley Hufstedler American judge

Shirley Ann Mount Hufstedler was an American attorney and judge who served as the first United States Secretary of Education under President Jimmy Carter from November 30, 1979 to January 20, 1981. At the time of her secretarial appointment, she was the highest ranking-woman in the federal judiciary, serving as a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Yvonne Kauger is an Associate Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court, and was appointed to the Court's District 4 seat by Governor George Nigh in 1984, and served as Chief Justice from 1997 to 1998. She was born in New Cordell, Oklahoma, and grew up in Colony, Oklahoma, and is an honorary member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma. Kauger founded the Gallery of the Plains Indian in Colony, Oklahoma and is also the co-founder of the Red Earth organization. Kauger also serves as Symposium Coordinator of the Sovereignty Symposium. Kauger was inducted into the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame in 2001.

Virginia Lynn Linder is an American judge from Oregon who served as the 99th justice of the Oregon Supreme Court from January 2007 until January 2016. She served on the Oregon Court of Appeals from 1997 until her election to the state's Supreme Court in the 2006, an electoral campaign in which she defeated former Labor Commissioner and Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Roberts.

Martha Lee Walters American judge

Karin Maria Bruzelius

Karin Maria Bruzelius is a Swedish-born Norwegian supreme court justice and former President of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights. In 1989 she became the first woman to be appointed Permanent Secretary of a government ministry, heading the Ministry of Transport and Communications until 1997. She was appointed supreme court justice on the Supreme Court of Norway in 1997, retiring in 2011. She has previously also been a Director-General in the Ministry of Justice and a corporate lawyer. Claes Borgström Swedish lawyer and politician

Claes Gustaf Borgström was a Swedish lawyer and politician. He served as Equality Ombudsman (JämO) from 2000 until 2007. A member of the Social Democratic Party prior to 2013, he joined the Left Party in that year.

Annelie Nordström Swedish politician

Annelie Nordström, also Nordström Eriksson, is a Swedish politician and has acted as general secretary of the Swedish Municipal Workers' Union since 2010. She started her career as a child caretaker in Halmstad and was a trade union activist locally within the Municipal Workers Union between 1974 and 1980, and an ombudsman in Stockholm for some time in 1981. She moved to Vilhelmina, where she became personnel manager in Vilhelmina municipality between 1988 and 1998.
