Career

During the COVID-19 pandemic in Senegal, she served as Director of Public Health at the Ministry of Health. [3]

In May 2022, she was appointed Minister of Health in the Fourth Sall government, replacing Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr who was sacked. [4]

She was nominated again to her post as Minister of Health on September 17, 2022 under the new cabinet formed by Prime Minister Amadou Bâ.

She co-wrote the screenplay for the 2022 legal drama Saint Omer alongside its director Alice Diop, and Amrita David. In September 2022 the film was selected as France's official selection for Best International Film at the 95th Academy Awards.

Ousmane Alioune Ngom is a Senegalese politician. As a leading member of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS), Ngom served as a minister in national unity governments from 1991 to 1992 and from 1995 to 1998. He split from the PDS to form his own party in 1998, but returned to the PDS in 2003. Under President Abdoulaye Wade, Ngom was a presidential adviser from 2003 to 2004, and from 2004 to 2012 he again served as a minister in the government, ultimately as Minister of State for the Interior from September 2010 to April 2012. Since 2012, he has served as a Deputy in the National Assembly of Senegal.

Musa Ngum was a singer and songwriter who was very popular in Senegal and Gambia. He was one of the pioneers of mbalax music, and "helped to define the mbalax style of popular music in the Senegambia" and "had a strong influence on Youssou N'Dour and other mbalax pioneers". He was "something of a cult icon back in the Senegambia region, and a pioneer of the mbalax fusion style". The mbalax, which originated from the Serer religious and ultra–conservative njuup music tradition sang during Ndut rites by circumcised boys was the foundation of Ngum's music career. He mastered many of the njuup classics and built a name for himself whilst at the same time developing his voice.
