Marie Skammelsen (born 22 February 2001) is a retired Danish artistic gymnast. [2] [3] [4] A Danish national team member since 2010, joining at an unprecedented age of nine, she has amassed several medals at the Northern European Gymnastics Championships as a junior, [5] including her all-around title at the 2016 event. [6] [7] In June 2016, she finished fourth in the vault final at the 2016 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Bern, Switzerland. [8]
In September, Skammelsen competed at the 2014 Northern European Gymnastics Championships, which were held in Greve, Denmark. [9] With her team, she took a silver medal, and an eleventh place finish in the all-around standings. [10] She advanced to the vault event final and finished in second place position. [11]
Skammelsen participated in the 2015 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival in the summer of 2015, where she travelled to Tbilisi, Georgia. [12] In the qualification round, she finished thirty-sixth which didn't advance her through to the all-around final; she did make the vault final though. In the vault final, she finished fifth. [13]
Later in the year, in mid-September, Skammelsen participated in the 2015 Northern European Gymnastics Championships in Limerick, Ireland. [14] She took an eighth place finish in the all-around standings, in addition to three event finals. [15] In the event finals, Skammelsen took home two bronze medals; one on vault and one on balance beam, as well as a fourth place finish on floor.
Skammelsen became the Danish Junior Champion in the all-around in April. [16] She claimed additional titles on the vault and floor too.
In May, she travelled to Reykjavik, Iceland for the 2016 Nordic Championships. [17] At the championships, she was crowned the junior Nordic all-around champion. [18] She also captured Junior Nordic titles on vault and floor, in addition to medals on the remaining two events.
A month later, in June, she journeyed to Bern for the 2016 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships. The qualification round saw Skammelsen advance to the all-around final in one of the final qualification spots. [19] She also qualified to the vault event final, taking the seventh place in the quota. [20] In the all-around final, Skammelsen finished twentieth in the field of twenty-four. [21] Soon after, she participated in the vault final where she over-performed to a finish of fourth place. [22]
As of October 2017, she now longer practises gymnastics. [23]
Vanessa Ferrari is a retired Italian artistic gymnast. She was the 2006 World All-Around Champion and competed for Italy at the 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal on floor exercise in 2020. In doing so, Ferrari became the first Italian to win an individual Olympic medal in Women's Artistic Gymnastics, and the first medallist for the Italian women's team since the 1928 Summer Olympics. She is a five-time World medallist and eight-time European medallist, and is currently the most decorated Italian gymnast of all time.
Dorina Böczögő is a Hungarian artistic gymnast who competed at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. She was a member of the team who won bronze at the 2020 European Championships.
Aliya Farkhatovna Mustafina is a Russian former artistic gymnast.
Giulia Steingruber is a Swiss retired artistic gymnast. She is the 2016 Olympic and 2017 World bronze medalist on vault. Additionally, she is the 2015 European all-around champion, a four-time European vault champion and the 2016 European floor exercise champion.
Ilaria Marina Käslin is a retired Swiss artistic gymnast. She competed at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships from 2013 to 2015 and in 2019.
Anastasia Andreyevna Ilyankova is a retired Russian artistic gymnast. She is the 2020 Olympic silver medalist, the 2019 European champion, and the 2019 and 2020 Russian champion on the uneven bars. She is a four-time FIG World Cup medalist, and she finished fourth on the uneven bars at the 2017 World Championships.
Mai Murakami is a Japanese retired artistic gymnast and Olympic medalist. She is the 2017 and 2021 World champion on floor exercise, the 2018 World all-around silver medalist and floor exercise bronze medalist, the 2021 World balance beam bronze medalist, and a four-time Japanese national all-around champion. She represented Japan at the 2016 and 2020 Olympics, winning a bronze medal on floor exercise in the latter. This made her the first female Japanese gymnast to win an individual medal at the Olympics.
Miyakawa Sae is a Japanese artistic gymnast. She represented Japan at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics and won a bronze medal on the vault. She also competed at the 2015 World Championships where she finished fourth on the floor exercise and at the 2017 World Championships where she finished eighth on the vault. She was a member of the team that won a gold medal at the 2015 Asian Championships, and individually, she won the silver medal on the vault and the bronze medal on the floor exercise. She also represented Japan at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Amy Tinkler is a retired British artistic gymnast. She is the 2016 Olympic floor exercise bronze medallist and the 2015 British all-around champion.
Marina Nekrasova is a Russian-born artistic gymnast who has represented Azerbaijan since 2013. She is the 2019 Summer Universiade vault champion. At the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, she won gold in the team event and silver medals on the vault and balance beam. She is also a three-time World Challenge Cup vault champion. She competed at the 2020 Olympic Games, making her the first woman artistic gymnast to represent Azerbaijan at the Olympic Games.
Andrei Vasile Muntean is a Romanian artistic gymnast. He represented Romania at the 2016 Summer Olympics and placed sixth on the parallel bars. He is the 2017 World University Games vault bronze medalist. He has competed at the World Championships eight times, and he will represent Romania at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Vera Dorothea Wilhelmina van Pol is a Dutch artistic gymnast. She represented the Netherlands at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. She won a bronze medal with the Dutch team at the 2018 European Championships. She is the 2015 and 2018 Dutch all-around champion. She competed at the 2013, 2014, 2018, and 2021 World Championships.
Shallon Jade Olsen is a Canadian artistic gymnast. She is the 2018 World silver medallist and 2018 Commonwealth Games champion on vault. She is also the 2018 Commonwealth Games floor exercise bronze medallist and the 2019 Pan American Games vault bronze medallist. She was a member of the Canadian team that won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games. She is also the 2016 Pacific Rim vault champion, team silver medallist, and floor exercise bronze medallist. She represented Canada at the 2016 Olympics where she was the youngest member of the Canadian Olympic team and at the 2020 Olympic Games. Additionally, she currently competes for the University of Alabama gymnastics team, and she helped the Crimson Tide win the 2021 SEC Championships.
Coline Devillard is a French artistic gymnast. Devillard is the 2022 World bronze medalist, the 2017, 2023, 2024 European champion and the 2019 European silver medalist on vault. She is the first and only French female gymnast to win the European title on vault. Additionally she was part of the French teams that won silver at the 2018 European Championships and bronze at the 2023 World Championships. She competed in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Maellyse Brassart is a Belgian retired artistic gymnast. She represented Belgium at the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2024 Summer Olympics. She has competed at five World Championships.
Gabriela Weronika Sasnal is a Polish artistic gymnast who represented Poland at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She is a five-time medalist on the FIG World Cup series and has competed in six World Championships.
