Mario Mendoza Zambrano (born January 6, 1964) [1] is a Colombian writer, professor, and journalist.
Mario Mendoza Zambrano was born in 1964 in Bogotá, Colombia. He studied at Colegio Refous and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, or "La Javeriana", in Bogotá, where he earned an MA in Latin American Literature. Later, he became Professor of Literature at La Javeriana. Mendoza has lived in Toledo, where he took courses of Spanish American literature, and also in Israel, where he lived in Hof Ashkelon. During the fall of 1997, he worked at James Madison University in Virginia, US. [2]
After graduating in 1980, Mendoza began his literary career, combining writing with teaching and working with various print media, including Journal Bacánika and El Tiempo Newspaper, Colombia.
Mendoza won the Seix Barral prize Premio Biblioteca Breve in 2002 for his novel Satanás. [3]
In his works, Mendoza uses words and imagery to recreate Bogotá. [4] This is first introduced in La Ciudad de los Umbrales, published in 1992, and developed throughout all of his novels. [4] In Mendoza's triptych [Scorpio City (1998), El Relato de un Asesino (2001) and Satanás (2002)], the city of Bogotá is a dark muse whose beauty is dark because it condenses the infernal and the sacred, the criminal and the virtuous, the disgusting and the desirable, the painful and the pleasant. [4] "Through agile and concise prose, Mendoza achieves a milestone in his own narrative universe; a universe in which it is possible to find beauty in the ugly and disgusting, without trying to cover it up with facile catharsis. Since writing proposes a hyper visceral aesthetic, which fears do not travel intricate regions of the human psyche, or skirting the limits of madness." [5]
Mendoza has been a literary advocate for the city of Bogotá for over 20 years, tracing in his novels the neighborhoods, bridges, schools, streets, universities, parks and the changes that the capital of Colombia has experienced in recent decades. [6] Mendoza's work is now recognized as an important part of Colombian urban literature, especially in regard to the representation of the city of Bogotá in Colombian writings. [4] [7]

Satanás is a novel by the Colombian writer Mario Mendoza Zambrano published in 2002. It is about three stories happening around a real event on December 4, 1986: Campo Elías Delgado, a Vietnam War veteran, killed his apartment building neighbors, a student of him and her mother, his own mother, and 30 people in a high-end restaurant before committing suicide. The novel narrates his life and that of three of his victims.

Ricardo La Rotta Caballero is an architect in Bogotá, Colombia and the principal at the La Rotta Arquitectos firm. His work includes La Quintana Library, a library park named after Tomás Carrasquilla in Medellín, Colombia. Along with Architects Juan Manuel López and Ramón Quevedo, La Rotta was selected as an architect for an ecological redevelopment project north of Bogotá. In 2006, La Rotta's work on the project with Quevedo and López on Edifício Compensar in Bogotá which was selected as one of the 10 "projects of the year" by the publication Semana. La Rotta was also involved in the project of the Plaza of Zipaquirá. La Rotta won a design competition for the new Arts faculty building at Javeriana University.
Tisquesusa, also spelled Thisquesuza, Thysquesuca or Thisquesusha was the fourth and last independent ruler (psihipqua) of Muyquytá, main settlement of the southern Muisca between 1514 and his death in 1537. The Spanish pronunciation of his name brought about the Colombian capital Bogotá. Tisquesusa was the ruler of the southern Muisca Confederation at the time of the Spanish conquest of the Muisca, when the troops led by Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada and his brother entered the central Andean highlands.

She published novels, short stories, essays, books for children as well as interviews, book reviews and columns for local newspapers El Tiempo and El Espectador. She was a member of the Academia Colombiana de la Lengua and the Real Academia Española. In 2018 the award Premio Nacional de Narrativa Elisa Mújica was created in order to recognize the work of unpublished female authors and to honor her 100th birth anniversary.

He is the director of the cultural magazine Librújula and collaborator of the spanish journal, La Vanguardia. His novel La bibliotecaria de Auschwitz/The Librarian of Auschwitz, published in 2012, has been published in 31 languages. In the United Kingdom it was the best-selling translated book of the year in 2019.
The Premio Biblioteca Breve is a literary award given annually by the publisher Seix Barral to an unpublished novel in the Spanish language. Its prize is €30,000 and publication of the winning work. It is delivered in February, to a work from the preceding year.
Tres tristes tigres, abbreviated as TTT, is the debut novel by Cuban writer Guillermo Cabrera Infante. The novel was first published in Spain in 1967. It was later translated into English by Donald Gardner and Suzanne Jill Levine and published in 1971 as Three Trapped Tigers.
