Marisa Zuriel (born August 19, 1982 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine chess player who holds the FIDE title of Woman International Master.

She won the Argentine women's chess championships of 2005 [1] and 2012. [2]

Zuriel won the 2007 American Continental Women's Chess Championship in Potrero de los Funes, San Luis Province [3] after a playoff match, which ended with an armageddon game, with Sarai Sanchez Castillo. [4]

She played in the Women's World Chess Championship in 2008, 2010 and 2015.

The Women's World Chess Championship was held from 16 March to 7 April 2015 in Sochi, Russia. It was a 64-player knockout tournament. It was originally scheduled from 11 to 31 October 2014 but problems in finding a sponsor and host city eventually forced international chess organisation FIDE to announce the postponement of the Championship on 24 September 2014, scheduling it for early 2015 in Sochi. The unclear state of the tournament was highly criticised by the Association of Chess Professionals (ACP).

Danitza Fernanda Vázquez Maccarini is a chess player from Puerto Rico. After winning the Central American and Caribbean U20 Girls Championship in El Salvador in 2013, she was awarded by FIDE the title Woman International Master (WIM), becoming the youngest one in the world at the time. In 2015, at 15, she became the youngest ever to win the chess championship of Puerto Rico; Vázquez finished first scoring 8/9 points, a full point ahead of the runner-up, International Master Alejandro Montalvo. She won the bronze medal in the Girls U18 division of the World Youth Chess Championships in 2017. In November of the same year, Vázquez won the Women's Zonal 2.3 Championship on tie-break from Maritza Arribas Robaina and Yerisbel Miranda Llanes. As a result, Vázquez qualified to play in the Women's World Chess Championship.
