Marja Casparsson (July 11, 1901 - August 24, 1993) was a Swedish painter.

Born in Saltsjöbaden, Casparsson was the daughter of embroidery artist Anna Casparsson. Beginning in the 1920s she spent much time at Gnarp. She died at Saltsjöbaden. [1]

Casparsson painted a portrait of her mother in the year of her death, 1961; this is today in the portrait collection at Gripsholm Castle; [2] the Nationalmuseet also owns her portraits of Arne Cassel, Mary-Ann Tollin, and Leeo Verde. [3] Three of her works, including two portraits, are in the collection of the Moderna Museet. [4] During her career she was especially known for her depictions of the elderly. [2]

Hilma af Klint was a Swedish artist and mystic whose paintings were considered among the first abstract works known in Western art history. A considerable body of her work predates the first purely abstract compositions by Kandinsky and Mondrian. She belonged to a group called "The Five", comprising a circle of women inspired by Theosophy, who shared a belief in the importance of trying to contact the so-called "High Masters"—often by way of séances. Her paintings, which sometimes resemble diagrams, were a visual representation of complex spiritual ideas.

Anna Behle

Anna Charlotta Behle was a Swedish dancer and dance teacher. Considered a pioneer of modern dance in Sweden, she first became interested in the art after watching Isadora Duncan perform. She was born to unwed parents, and was adopted, along with her brother August, by the Granbäck family, who ensured that she had a full education. After initial studies in singing with Eugène Crosti and Emile Wartel in Paris, she studied dance with Duncan and with Emile Jacques-Dalcroze; later she would open her own school in Stockholm.

Märtha Fredrique Gahn was a Swedish textile artist. Together with Elsa Flensburg, Bror Geijer Göthe and Märtha Hjortzberg-Reuterswärd, she was one of the founders of the "Ateljé Handtryck" textile workshop in 1915. In 1935 she became head of the Libraria studio, which produced ecclesiastical textiles for the Church of Sweden. Gahn's work may be found in the collections of the Nationalmuseum the Röhsska Museum, and the Nordic Museum.
