Mark Butler is the current Georgia Labor Commissioner. He is the first Republican to hold the office with his election in 2010, in which Republicans won every statewide office in Georgia. [1] Prior to serving as Commissioner of Labor, Butler served in the Georgia House of Representatives. He was re-elected in 2014 and 2018. His current term expires in January 2023. [2]

The 2020 United States Senate elections will be held on November 3, 2020, with the 33 class 2 seats of the Senate being contested in regular elections. The winners will be elected to six-year terms extending from January 3, 2021, to January 3, 2027. There will also be two special elections: one in Arizona to fill the vacancy created by the death of John McCain in 2018 and one in Georgia following the resignation of Johnny Isakson at the end of 2019.

The COVID-19 pandemic was first detected in the U.S. state of Georgia on March 2, 2020. The state's first death came ten days later on March 12. As of July 14, 2020, there were 123,963 confirmed cases, 13,685 hospitalizations, and 3,054 deaths. All of Georgia's 159 counties now report COVID-19 cases, with four counties now reporting over 7,000 cases. Three low-population counties have higher per capita case rates and death rates than New York City.

The 2010 Georgia House of Representatives elections occurred on November 2, 2010 to elect the members to the Georgia House of Representatives. All 180 seats in the state House were up for two year terms. The winners of this election cycle served in the 151st Georgia General Assembly.
