Mark Engel (born October 1, 1991) is an American alpine ski racer.
He competed at the 2017 World Championships and the 2018 Winter Olympics. [1] Engel re-qualified for the 2014-2015 "C" team after winning the NCAA title in giant slalom with the University of Utah in 2014. [2] In 2019, he won the NCAA national championship with the University of Utah. He finished 12th in the giant slalom and won All American honors with a 9th-place finish in slalom. [3]
Theodore Sharp Ligety is a retired American alpine ski racer, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, and an entrepreneur, having cofounded Shred Optics. Ligety won the combined event at the 2006 Olympics in Turin and the giant slalom race at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. He is also a five-time World Cup champion in giant slalom. Ligety won the gold medal in the giant slalom at the 2011 World Championships. He successfully defended his world title in giant slalom in 2013 in Schladming, Austria, where he also won an unexpected gold medal in the super-G and a third gold medal in the super combined.
The Skiing Cochrans are a family of American alpine ski racers from Richmond, Vermont, a dominant force on the U.S. Ski Team in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and again in 2000s, 2010s and 2020s.
Aksel Lund Svindal is a Norwegian former World Cup alpine ski racer. Born in Lørenskog in Akershus county, Svindal is a two-time overall World Cup champion, an Olympic gold medalist in super-G at the 2010 Winter Olympics and in downhill at the 2018 Winter Olympics, and a five-time World Champion in downhill, giant slalom, and super combined. With his victory in the downhill in 2013, Svindal became the first male alpine racer to win titles in four consecutive world championships.
Maria Helena Pietilä-Holmner is a retired Swedish World Cup alpine ski racer. She specialised in the technical events of slalom and giant slalom.
Thomas Fanara is a former French World Cup alpine ski racer.
Chiharu Igaya, is a former Olympic alpine ski racer and silver medalist from Japan. He competed in three Winter Olympics.
Kjetil Jansrud is a Norwegian former World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic champion. He competed in all alpine disciplines apart from slalom, and his best event was the giant slalom where he has six World Cup podiums and an Olympic silver medal. Since 2012, he had concentrated on the speed events, where all but two of his World Cup victories had come. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, he won the super-G and placed third in the downhill. At the World Championships in 2019 at Åre, Jansrud won gold in the downhill. Kjetil is the current host of popular tv reality show “Alt for Norge”
Marilyn Cochran Brown is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States.
Otto Victor Tschudi Jr. is a Norwegian alpine skier best known for success in the American NCAA Skiing Championships and World Pro Skiing ski racing circuits. He participated at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble and at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, and achieved four top-ten results in World Cup slalom races. Between 1970 and 1972 he won five individual NCAA championships for the University of Denver Pioneers ski team while the team won two team championships. After the Sapporo Olympics Tschudi competed for eight seasons on the World Pro Skiing Tour, leading the Rossignol international team. He served as president of the Professional Ski Racers Association and as director of skiing at Winter Park Resort in Colorado. Tschudi later joined the financial-service firm Montgomery Securities in San Francisco, and rose to become a partner and managing director of international sales at Thomas Weisel Partners.
Jeremy M. Nobis was an American alpine skier who competed in the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Heidi Voelker is an American former World Cup alpine ski racer who competed in three Winter Olympics. She is the current Ambassador of Skiing for Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah.
Mitchell Gourley is an Australian Paralympic alpine skier who competed for Australia in the downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom and super combined events at four Winter Paralympics - 2010 to 2022. He was Australian team co-captain with Joany Badenhorst at the 2018 Winter Paralympics. At the 2022 Winter Paralympics, he and Melissa Perrine carried the Australian flag in the opening ceremony. At the 2017 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Tarvisio, Italy he won the gold medal in the men's Super Combined Standing.
Ester Ledecká is a Czech snowboarder and alpine skier. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Ledecká won gold medals in the super-G in alpine skiing and in the parallel giant slalom in snowboarding, becoming the first person to not only compete in the Winter Olympics using two different types of equipment but to go further and win two gold medals and do so at the same Winter Olympics. She was the second woman to win an Olympic gold in two separate disciplines but the first to do so at the same Winter Olympics. She was the first Czech to win the parallel giant slalom in snowboarding at the FIS Snowboard World Cup.
David Chodounsky is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States, and specialized in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom. Chodounsky competed in two Winter Olympics ; prior to the U.S. Ski Team, he raced for Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
Jared Goldberg is an American World Cup alpine ski racer, a member of the U.S. Ski Team, and resident of Holladay, Utah.
The 2014 NCAA Skiing Championships were held in Park City, Utah and Midway, Utah on March 5–8, 2014. Utah hosted the event with alpine events at Park City Ski Resort and Nordic events taking place at Soldier Hollow in nearby Midway, UT. Utah hosted for the fourth time, all have happened in Park City, the other times being 1981, 1991 and 2000.
Paula Moltzan is an American World Cup alpine ski racer and specializes in slalom.
William Charles Marolt is a retired American alpine ski racer, coach, and sports administrator. Originally from Aspen, Colorado, Marolt made the U.S. Olympic team in 1964 at age twenty and was twelfth in the giant slalom. Domestically, he won four individual NCAA titles: downhill, slalom (1966), and combined (1966).
Luke Winters is an American World Cup alpine ski racer. He was a medalist at the Junior World Championships in 2018. At the World Cup level, Winters focuses on the technical events of slalom and giant slalom.
Kaitlyn Vesterstein is an alpine skier, who competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Born in the United States, Vesterstein now competes for Estonia, and the University of Utah college team.
