A gay anthem is a popular song that has become widely popular among, or has become identified with, the gay community. Not all songs labelled as "gay anthems" were written intentionally to become gay anthems, but those that do are often marked by themes of perseverance, inner strength, acceptance, pride, and unity. Research in 2007 suggested that the song most commonly identified as a gay anthem is "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, and described the song as "a classic emblem of gay culture in the post-Stonewall and AIDS eras".

DWV was an American pop group based in Los Angeles, consisting of drag queens Detox, Willam Belli, and Vicky Vox. They found fame with the release of "Chow Down " in March 2012, a parody of "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips, satirizing Chick-fil-A's controversial stance on gay marriage. The single's music video went viral online. Teen Spirit (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack album accompanying the film of the same name released on April 5, 2019 by Interscope Records. The album featured 14-tracks with most of them were performed by the lead actress Elle Fanning, while also had music from Major Lazer, Grimes, Orbital, MØ and DJ Snake amongst others.
