Mark Mallia is a self-taught outsider artist who works with abstract and portrait paintings on a variety of mixed media and ceramic sculptures. Mallia is Maltese, born in Pieta, Malta in 1965, and has worked in Malta, Monaco, UK and the United States. [1]

He tackles Duchampian concepts in a provocative way, using found objects, adorning them and elevating them to high art. Mallia's signature style imparts an aggressive energy to his art, fed by his maniacal obsessions that metamorphose into mischief, audacity, insouciance, and mystery. Mallia is known for his maverick character which comes useful in creating a diverse spectrum of works, amongst some of his famous works are Caricatural Portraits and his Crow Series. [2]

Major exhibitions include various solos in Malta including the acclaimed Open Closet, [3] Postcards from Beyond, [4] Black Canvas [5] and Zabach exhibitions, [6] [7] together with collective exhibitions such as Forgotten Spaces, [8] at the Royal Windsor Racecourse UK, [9] at Art Basel Miami, [10] [11] and at the Sporting Club in Monaco.

Mallia is also known for raising funds and awareness of ALS in Malta. [12] [13]

Mallia has collaborated with Angelo Dalli during 2018–2019 on exploring the new space between art and artificial intelligence using the Universal Machine Artist system, teaching AI the concepts of creativity of visual expression. [14]

He then abandoned the figurative to launch himself into a "narrative abstraction". The designers of Maltese stamps have been creating their works for the last 150 years. The most prolific designer of Maltese stamps was Emvin Cremona, who designed most of Malta's stamps from the late 1950s to the 1970s. Dates indicate the years stamps with the artist's design were used.

Although Malta is a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea with a small population, it is nonetheless rich in its history and its culture. When in the 1950s, in nearby Italy the San Remo Festival, and later in Switzerland, the Eurovision Song Contest came into existence, Malta soon followed suit by organizing its own National Song Festival.

Lee creates modern day pieces using techniques and colors dating back to the Joseon Dynasty. Lee attended Hong-ik University in Seoul from 1986–1991 with a BFA in ceramic sculpture. He continued his education throughout San Francisco and Korea, and getting a PH.D in architecture from Kyung-Won University in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

Antoine Camilleri MQR, was a Maltese artist and art teacher who made a lasting impact on the development of Maltese modern and contemporary art. He retains a special and unique place in Maltese Contemporary Art, mainly of a spirited father, loving teacher and as an artist who matured through the hardship of life. Camilleri's work is very personal, usually drawing from events or experiences in the artist's life. His self-image in particular is repeated throughout his work using various media including, oils, lino prints, clay and objet trouvé. Throughout the years, Antoine Camilleri experimented with a variety of media and he will be mostly remembered for his unique style as pictures in clay involving the working and manipulation of clay and its dry cracked textures.
