Mark John Nelson (born 9 August 1969, in Bellshill) is a Scottish former professional footballer who made more than 300 appearances in the Scottish Football League playing as a defender. [1]

Mark Wayne Hateley is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. He started his career with Coventry City F.C. in the First Division of English football. A spell followed at English Second Division club Portsmouth, where he ended the 1983–84 season as the club's top goalscorer. He then moved to Italian club A.C. Milan, where he suffered several injuries ; however, he did score the winning goal against city rivals Inter Milan in 1984. In 1987, Hateley signed for French club Monaco, winning Ligue 1 in his first season at the Monegasque club. In 1990, he signed for Scottish Premier Division club Rangers. In his five-year spell in Glasgow, he was a part of a title-winning squad in every season, and he attained personal success in the 1993–94 season, as he was voted both the SFWA Footballer of the Year and the SPFA Players' Player of the Year, as well as the league's top goalscorer with 22 goals. He briefly rejoined the club in 1997, as there were no available forwards for the Old Firm match, but was sent off on his second debut. In 1999, Hateley was named as part of Rangers' greatest-ever team, and in 2003 he was inducted to Rangers' Hall of Fame.

Nelson Football Club, colloquially known as Nelson F.C. or simply Nelson, is an English football club based in Nelson, Lancashire. Originally established in 1882, the club played in the Lancashire League, North-East Lancashire Combination, Lancashire Combination and Central League before becoming founding members of the Football League's Third Division North in 1921. They were Division Three North champions during 1922 to 1923 and were promoted to the Second Division. However, they were relegated back to the Third Division North after a single season.

James Nelson was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a full-back. He moved to Ireland as a child where he began his senior career with Irish Intermediate League side Crusaders. He spent two seasons with the team before joining Football League First Division side Cardiff City in 1921. After two seasons as a reserve, he became established in the first team and went on to make more than 250 appearances in all competitions. He helped the club reach two FA Cup finals, losing the first in 1925 before Cardiff became the first team from outside England to win the competition in 1927. He also won the 1927 FA Charity Shield and the Welsh Cup on four occasions with Cardiff.

Roger Nelson was an American and Canadian football offensive tackle and guard. He played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Edmonton Eskimos from 1954 to 1967 and was a part of two Grey Cup winning teams for the Eskimos.
