Andorra, officially the Principality of Andorra, is a sovereign landlocked country on the Iberian Peninsula, in the eastern Pyrenees in Western Europe, bordered by France to the north and Spain to the south. Believed to have been created by Charlemagne, Andorra was ruled by the count of Urgell until 988, when it was transferred to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Urgell. The present principality was formed by a charter in 1278. It is currently headed by two co-princes: the Bishop of Urgell in Catalonia, Spain, and the president of France. Its capital and largest city is Andorra la Vella.

David Castillo i Buïls is a Spanish poet, writer, and literary critic. He started out as a poet with counterculture and underground publications in the 1970s, although his first published work, a declaration of principles, was the biography of Bob Dylan in 1992. Three years earlier, he had been the anthologist of Ser del segle, which brought together leading voices of the generation of the 1980s. They were followed by a series of poems among them "Game over", which won the Carles Riba Poetry Prize. Then he began a career as a writer with novels like El cel de l'infern and No miris enrere, that were well accepted both by critics and the general public. El cel de l'infern was awarded the Crexells Prize for the best Catalan novel of the year in 1999. No miris enrere won the Premi Sant Jordi de novel·la of 2001. Castillo has received Atlàntida awards for journalism three times, and he has also been awarded the Italian "Tratti Poetry Prize for the best foreign poet" for his anthology of poetry translated into Italian. He has been organizing various poetic cycles. He is a founder of Poetry Week in Barcelona, and has been a director of it since 1997.
Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva is an Andorran professional tennis player. At the age of 14, she won the 2020 Australian Open girls' singles title. On 14 November 2022, she reached her best WTA singles ranking of No. 121.
The COVID-19 pandemic in Andorra was a part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus was confirmed to have reached Andorra on 2 March 2020, when a 20-year-old man returned to the country from Milan, Italy. With a total population of 77,543, on 7 December 2020, the infection rate was 1 case per 11 inhabitants, and the death rate was 1 case per 994 inhabitants.

Elidà Amigó i Montanya was an Andorran historian, archivist, activist, and suffragist. A leader in the feminist movement that led to Andorran women gaining the right to vote in 1970, she was also an academic expert on the history and sociology of the microstate of Andorra. She has been described as "the first Andorran intellectual to bring critical awareness to the condition of women" in the principality.
Carles Capdevila i Plandiura was a Catalan journalist and writer, director of the newspaper Ara for its first five years and from 28 November 2015 onwards founding director. He presented and directed the programmes Eduqueu les criatures in Catalunya Ràdio and Qui els va parir in TV3. He was deputy director of the program Malalts de tele. He directed the section Alguna pregunta més?, within El matí de Catalunya Ràdio. He received the humor and satire award 'Premi Pere Quart d'humor i sàtira' in 1999 for the book Criatura i companyia and in 2016 the National Prize for Communication. He died from colorectal cancer on 1 June 2017.
The literature of Andorra is part of Catalan literature, that is, of literature in the Catalan language. It is the literature represented by the writings created in the Principality of Andorra or by Andorran authors.
Muriel Villanueva i Perarnau is a Spanish writer. With a degree in Literary theory and Comparative literature from the University of Barcelona and a diploma in Music education from the University of Valencia, she was a professor at the School of Writing at the University of Barcelona between 2006 and 2014. Subsequently, she works as a writing teacher with several organizations. In 2020, she received one of the grants for literary creation from the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes for the project El refugi del Tarek 2.
Lluïsa Cunillé Salgado is a Spanish playwright who writes in Spanish and Catalan. In 2010, she became the first woman to be awarded the National Dramatic Literature Award by the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
