    The Premio Planeta de Novela is a Spanish literary prize, awarded since 1952 by the Spanish publisher Grupo Planeta to an original unpublished novel written in Spanish. It is one of about 16 literary prizes given by Planeta.

    Marcela Serrano is a Chilean novelist. In 1994, her first novel, Para que no me olvides, won the Literary Prize in Santiago, and her second book, Nosotras que nos queremos tanto, won the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize for women writers in Spanish. She received the runner-up award in the renowned Premio Planeta competition in 2001 for her novel Lo que está en mi corazón. Carlos Fuentes has quoted her description of the modern woman as "having the capacity to change skin like a snake, freeing herself from the inevitability and servitude of more obsolete times."

    Carlos Rojas Vila was a Spanish author, academic, and artist born in Barcelona in 1928. His father was Carlos Rojas Pinilla, a Colombian doctor, who was in turn the younger brother of Gustavo Rojas Pinilla, the 19th president of Colombia. He attended the University of Barcelona, obtaining his undergraduate degree in 1951. He earned his doctorate in 1955 from the University of Madrid with a study on Richard Ford. In 1960 he began teaching at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he led a distinguished career until his retirement in 1996.

    Aixa de la Cruz is a Spanish writer of Basque origin. She is the author of the novels Cuando fuimos los mejores and De música ligera, both of which were shortlisted for the Premio Euskadi de Literatura. Cruz has also published a book of short stories titled Modelos Animales and contributed to various fiction anthologies, including Última temporada, Bajo treinta and Best European Fiction 2015, which reprinted her story "True Milk."
