Martha Abelsen

Martha Abelsen (born 1957) is a Greenlandic politician.

She was born in Nuuk and trained as a kindergarten teacher. She also received management training. [1] Abelsen worked for the KANUKOKA, the association of Greenland municipalities, for 15 years. She began work there as a consultant and, in 1999, became director. Abelsen was elected chairman in 2010. She resigned effective September 1, 2013. [2] In October 2011, she was named second deputy mayor for Sermersooq municipality. [3] In 2014, she was named a representative for Greenland on the Executive Council of the Inuit Circumpolar Council. [1]

Ilulissat, formerly Jakobshavn or Jacobshaven, is the municipal seat and largest town of the Avannaata municipality in western Greenland, located approximately 350 km (220 mi) north of the Arctic Circle. With the population of 4,670 as of 2020, it is the third-largest city in Greenland, after Nuuk and Sisimiut. The city is home to almost as many sled-dogs as people.

The Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC), formerly Inuit Circumpolar Conference, is a multinational non-governmental organization (NGO) and Indigenous Peoples' Organization (IPO) representing the 180,000 Inuit, Yupik, and Chukchi peoples living in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, and Chukotka (Russia). ICC was ECOSOC-accredited and was granted special consultative status at the UN in 1983.

Qaarsut Airport airport in Avannaata, Greenland

Qaarsut Airport is an airport in Qaarsut, a settlement on the Nuussuaq Peninsula in the Qaasuitsup municipality in northwestern Greenland. It is a primary airport with a gravel runway, capable of serving STOL aircraft of Air Greenland in all seasons. There is a small cafeteria in the tiny arrivals/departures hall. It is connected by a 4 km (2.5 mi) gravel road to Qaarsut and is 13.5 nautical miles northwest of Uummannaq.

KANUKOKA

KANUKOKA is the national association of Greenland's municipalities, led by Palle Jeremiassen. The name is an acronym formed from the first two letters of each of the constituent words of the organization's name in the Greenlandic language.

Maliina Abelsen is the General Manager for Arctic Winter Games 2016 and a former Greenlandic politician and MP for the party Inuit Ataqatigiit (IA), holding the position of the Minister for Finance in the Government of Greenland, in office from March 2011. Between June 2009 and March 2011, Abelsen held the position of the Minister for Social Affairs in the Government of Greenland.

Hermann Berthelsen Greenlandic politician

Hermann Berthelsen is a Greenlandic politician and affiliated with the Siumut party. As of July 2010, Berthelsen is the mayor of Sisimiut, a town in central-western Greenland, and the administrative center of the Qeqqata municipality.
