Martha Biondi is an American historian. She is the Lorraine H. Morton Professor of African American Studies and Professor of History at Northwestern University. [1]
Biondi was raised in Connecticut. [2] She received her B.A. from Barnard College,and her M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University. [1] Her specialization is 20th-century African American history with a focus on social movements. [3] [4] [5] She served as chair of Northwestern University's African American studies department. [6]
Biondi won the Wesley Logan Prize from the American Historical Association and the Association for the Study of African American Life for her book,The Black Revolution on Campus (2014),which documented the history of black student activism in American campuses. [1] [7] She also received a 2004 Gustavus Myers Outstanding Book Award for her book,To Stand and Fight:the Struggle for Civil Rights in Postwar New York City (2003). [1]

Eddie S. Glaude Jr. is an American academic. He is the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University,where he is also the Chair of the Center for African American Studies and the Chair of the Department of African American Studies. He is the author of the 2020 book Begin Again,which is about James Baldwin and the history of American politics.

Susan Herbst is an American political scientist and academic administrator who served as the 15th president of the University of Connecticut. She was named president on December 20,2010,and took office on June 1,2011. She succeeded Michael J. Hogan and was the first woman to be selected as the University of Connecticut's president since the school's founding in 1881. In August of 2019,Herbst was succeeded by Thomas C. Katsouleas.

Jessica B. Harris is an American culinary historian,college professor,cookbook author and journalist. She is professor emerita at Queens College,City University of New York,where she taught for 50 years,and is also the author of 15 books,including cookbooks,non-fiction food writing and memoir. She has twice won James Beard Foundation Awards,including for Lifetime Achievement in 2020,and her book High on the Hog was adapted in 2021 as a four-part Netflix series by the same name.
Mary Pattillo is Harold Washington Professor of Sociology and African American Studies at Northwestern University. As of 2016,she has served as Director of Undergraduate Studies in African American Studies and has been a Faculty Associate in Northwestern's Institute for Policy Research since 2004. Oberlin Academy Preparatory School,originally Oberlin Institute and then Preparatory Department of Oberlin College,was a private preparatory school in Oberlin,Ohio which operated from 1833 until 1916. It opened as Oberlin Institute which became Oberlin College in 1850. The secondary school serving local and boarding students continued as a department of the college. The school and college admitted African Americans and women. This was very unusual and controversial. It was located on the Oberlin College campus for much of its history and many of its students continued on to study at Oberlin College. Various alumni and staff went on to notable careers.
