Martins Chike Amaewhule is a state-level politician in Nigeria and the incumbent Speaker of the 10th Assembly of the Rivers State House of Assembly and the immediate Majority Leader of State House of Assembly.

He is representing the assembly constituency of Obio-Akpor I. He was a member of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party and now a member of the Rivers State All Progressives Congress Party . He was first elected in 2011, and in a March 2016 election rerun to the Assembly. [1] [2]

Subburaman Thirunavukkarasar is an Indian politician. He was the State President of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee till 2 February 2019 and former secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) of the Indian National Congress (INC) party. His introduction to politics in 1977 was facilitated by former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. G. Ramachandran. Ramachandran founded the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in 1972 and was facing his first elections for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election in 1977. He identified Thirunavukkarasar, a lawyer by profession, to contest the Aranthangi assembly constituency. Thirunavukkarasar won the seat, aged 27, and was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He continued in that capacity till 1980. Subsequently, he served as Tamil Nadu state minister from 1980 to 1987 in the MGR cabinet, holding portfolios that included Industries, Housing Board, Excise and Handlooms. Later, he became a member of the Lok Sabha – the lower house of the Parliament of India – when he won the erstwhile Pudukottai Lok Sabha constituency. He served as Union Minister of state for shipping and later for telecommunications and information technology.

Osinakachukwu Ideozu is a Nigerian businessman and People's Democratic Party politician. He is currently a member of the Senate of Nigeria representing the Rivers West senatorial district. Ideozu was a member and Minority Whip of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2003 where he represented Ahoada East I and was subsequently elected into the Nigerian House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007 where he represented Abua-Odual/Ahoada East Federal Constituency. Ideozu was appointed the Honourable Commissioner of Finance in October 2007 by the then Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, a position he held till June 2009 when the cabinet was dissolved.

The Politics of Rivers State function within the framework of a presidential republic, with the Governor of Rivers State as both head of state and head of government. Rivers State is known for a politically engaged citizenry. The official seat of government is in Port Harcourt. Under the Constitution, Executive power is vested in the Governor. This does not change the fact that such authority may also be exercised through the Deputy Governor or Commissioners. Legislative power is vested in a 32-member unicameral House of Assembly. Judicial power is exercised solely by the judiciary of Rivers State.

Ikuinyi Owaji Ibani is a Nigerian politician and Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. From 2007 to 2011, he served as MHA representing the constituency of Andoni, and from 2011 to 2015, was the Chief Whip of the House. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party. In the 8th Assembly election, he defeated his All Progressives Congress rival by over 50,000 votes.

The 8th Rivers State House of Assembly is the current session of the Rivers State legislature. It was formed after the 11 April and 18 2015 elections. Representatives of the Assembly were elected from 32 constituencies with members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the majority. The Assembly was inaugurated on 1 June 2015. The elected presiding officer (Speaker) was Ikuinyi O. Ibani, until 19 December, when he resigned and was replaced by Adams Dabotorudima. In December 2016, Ikuinyi O. Ibani was re-elected as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The Rivers State gubernatorial election took place on 9 March 2019, concurrently with various other Nigerian state level elections. A rerun of the vote was held in Abua–Odual, Ahoada West, Gokana and Opobo–Nkoro on 13 April. One-term incumbent Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike of the People's Democratic Party was eligible to run for re-election. He won in 2015 with 87.77% of the vote.

Michael Okechukwu Chinda is a Member of the House of Assembly representing the Obio-Akpor II assembly constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Nigeria. He is a member of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party. He was first elected in 2011, and in a March 2016 election rerun was reelected to the Assembly.

Isaac Kamalu is the Rivers State Commissioner for Finance after taking over from Fred Kpakol in 2019. He was the immediate past Rivers State Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning since December 2015. He is a member of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party.

Senator, Barry Barinada Mpigi is a Nigerian politician from Rivers State, Nigeria. He served as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, representing the constituency of Tai–Oyigbo–Eleme.Senator Barinada Mpigi is the current Senator representing the south east Senatorial district of Rivers state and was member of the nigerian 9th assembly during Buhari second tenure and not member if the 10th assembly in Tinubu first tenure. First elected in 2011, he was reelected to a second term in December 2016. In 2019, he was elected as the Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District in the National Assembly under the platform of People's Democratic Party.

The 2023 Nigerian House of Representatives elections were held on 25 February 2023 where voters elected members of the House of Representatives using first-past-the-post voting in all 360 federal constituencies. The last regular House elections for all districts were in 2019.
