Charles-Marie Vanel was a French actor and director. During his 76-year film career, which began in 1912, he appeared in more than 200 films and worked with many prominent directors, including Alfred Hitchcock, Luis Buñuel, Jacques Feyder, and Henri-Georges Clouzot. He is perhaps best remembered for his role as a desperate truck driver in Clouzot's The Wages of Fear for which he received a Special Mention at the Cannes Film Festival in 1953.
Suzy Vernon (1901–1997) was a French film actress. Vernon was born Amelie Paris in Perpignan in Southern France. She began her screen career in 1923 during the silent era and went on to appear in just under fifty films. She generally played the female lead, although she occasionally also appeared in supporting roles.

It was shot at the Neuilly Studios in Paris and on location around the city. Footage was also shot off the coast of Monaco. The film's sets were designed by the art director Maurice Colasson.
