Arthur H. Vinal was an American architect who lived and worked in Boston, Massachusetts. Vinal started a partnership with Henry F. Starbuck in 1877; the firm broke up when Starbuck moved away. Vinal was City Architect of Boston from 1884 to 1887. Vinal is principally known for his Richardsonian Romanesque High Service Building at the Chestnut Hill Reservoir (1887). In addition to his other public buildings, Vinal designed numerous residences in Boston and nearby suburbs.
John Randolph Thayer was a representative from Massachusetts. He was born in Douglas, Massachusetts and attended the common schools and Nichols Academy in Dudley. Thayer graduated from Yale College in 1869 where he studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1871 and commenced practice in Worcester, Massachusetts. There, he served on the city council from 1874 to 1876 and was elected an alderman from 1878 to 1880.

George Lewis was an American politician, who served as the ninth, and final, Mayor of Roxbury, Massachusetts from 1863-1867. Lewis was born in Roxbury to Eliajh Lewis and Elizabeth Sumner (Doggetrt) Lewis. Lewis was first elected mayor in the election of December 8, 1862. Lewis defeated his opponent S. U. Williams by about 300 votes. Pursuant to Roxbury city charter, Lewis was sworn into office on the first Monday of the new year, January 5, 1863. Lewis' was mayor until the City of Roxbury was formerly annexed by the City of Boston on January 5, 1867.

The Massachusetts Archives is the state archive of Massachusetts. It "serves the Commonwealth and its citizens by preserving and making accessible the records documenting government action and by assisting government agencies in managing their permanent records." The archives occupies quarters on the Columbia Point peninsula in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood on the University of Massachusetts Boston campus. For fiscal year 2010 the state budgeted $389,815 to the archives. The Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth bears responsibility for its administration.
