Mastermind Champion of Champions is a pair of special series of BBC quiz program Mastermind, featuring past winners. The first series was broadcast in 1982 to celebrate the series' 10th anniversary and was won by Sir David Hunt over the other nine series winners. [1]
Another series of Champion of Champions was televised Monday to Friday at 7:30pm on BBC Two in the first full week of August 2010. The series was won by future Eggheads panellist Pat Gibson. [2] Contestants had around six weeks to prepare for their appearances. [3]

Magnus Magnusson, was an Icelandic-born British-based journalist, translator, writer and television presenter. Born in Reykjavík, he lived in Scotland for almost all his life, although he never took British citizenship. He came to prominence as a BBC television journalist and was the presenter of the BBC television quiz programme Mastermind for 25 years. His catchphrase "I've started, so I'll finish" was said whenever the time for questioning a contestant ran out while he was reading a question on the show.
Mastermind is a British television quiz show for the BBC, currently presented by Clive Myrie. Its creator, Bill Wright, drew inspiration from his experiences of being interrogated by the Gestapo during World War II. The show features an intimidating setting and challenging questions. He has won most of the top-level quiz tournaments in which he has taken part, among them several World and European Championships.
Eggheads is a British quiz show produced by 12 Yard. It was first broadcast in November 2003 chaired by Dermot Murnaghan. In 2008, Jeremy Vine became joint chair, and subsequently sole chair. The show has inspired three spinoff series: Are You an Egghead? (2008), Revenge of the Egghead (2014) and Make Me an Egghead (2016). There have also been episodes of the regular series featuring teams of celebrities in their own short series, with their own rolling prize fund.

Stein Olav Bjortomt is an English international quiz player, four-time world champion and three-time individual European champion. He is the star player of the world's most successful quizzing clubs, Broken Hearts, with which he has won several European championships.
Patrick Gibson is an Irish quizzer. On 24 April 2004 he became the fourth contestant to win the £1m jackpot on the quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. He is a multiple world champion in quizzing and one of the world's most successful quiz players. He is best known for winning several quiz shows and being a panellist on Eggheads. He was born, raised and educated in Ireland but currently lives in the United Kingdom and competes as part of the England quiz team. As of 5 December 2018, Gibson is currently the No. 1 ranked quizzer in the world.
Mastermind India is an Indian television quiz show based on the British quiz show Mastermind. It originally aired on BBC World's "Made in India" series between 1998 and 2002. Each round saw four contestants taking the black chair one by one, and facing rapid fire questions on subjects of their own choosing in the first half, and on general knowledge in the second half. One of the hallmarks of the Indian show was the staging of the contest at heritage sites across the country. For example, in 1999 the semi-finals were held at the Ferozshah Kotla in Delhi, and the finals were held at the City Palace, Jaipur. Mastermind India was hosted by Siddhartha Basu and had five seasons, the last one being in 2002.
Mark Andrew Labbett, also known by his professional nickname The Beast, is an English professional quizzer and television personality. Since 2009 he has been one of the "chasers" on the ITV game show The Chase as "The Beast" and from late February 2022 rejoined the Australian version of the show. He previously appeared between 2013 and 2015 on GSN's American version as their sole chaser; between 2016 and 2020 as one of six chasers on the Australian version; and as one of four chasers in the second season of ABC's American revival.
Miles Hugh Barrett Jupp is an English actor, singer, and comedian. He began his career as a stand-up comedian before playing the role of the inventor Archie in the children's television series Balamory. He also played John Duggan in The Thick of It, Nigel in the sitcom Rev and appeared on many comedy panel shows. In September 2015, Jupp replaced Sandi Toksvig as the host of The News Quiz on BBC Radio 4.
Sir David Hunt was a British diplomat, perhaps best remembered as winner of the BBC's Mastermind television quiz in 1977.
Only Connect is a British television quiz show presented by Victoria Coren Mitchell. In the series, teams compete in a tournament of finding connections between seemingly unrelated clues. The title is taken from a passage in E. M. Forster's 1910 novel Howards End: "Only connect the prose and the passion, and both will be exalted".
Celebrity Mastermind is a celebrity version of Mastermind, a British television quiz show broadcast by BBC television. It began in 2002 as a one-off special, expanding to the current arrangement of 10 episodes, broadcast during December and January. It was originally hosted by John Humphrys, who also hosted the main show from 2003 to 2021.
Barry Lawrence Simmons is a Scottish quiz show contestant, the winner of the first BBC Two TV show Are You an Egghead?, and of Brain of Britain 2013. Simmons was born in Edinburgh and now lives in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
Supriya Kumar "Paul" Sinha is an English professional quizzer, comedian, doctor and broadcaster. He has written and performed extensively on BBC Radio 4 Extra, and is one of the six Chasers on the ITV game show The Chase.
Jesse Honey is an English urban planner and quiz player from South London, best known for winning the Mastermind series 2010 and holding one of its records, becoming a member of the English National quiz team later in the year, and going on to win the World Quizzing Championship 2012.
Elizabeth Horrocks is an author and winner of the BBC quiz series Mastermind.
Ria Lina is a British comedian, actress and writer. She has appeared on Yesterday, Today & The Day Before, Mock the Week, Steph's Packed Lunch, The Now Show, The News Quiz, Sky News, and Have I Got News for You. In 2003, she won an Ethnic Multicultural Media Academy award for Best Comedian.
