Erika Zorzi and Matteo Sangalli are Mathery, an artist duo working in film direction, photography and the design of exhibition spaces.
Zorzi and Sangalli were both born in Italy and attended NABA (New Academy of Arts) in Milan. They currently live in Brooklyn, NY and are represented internationally by 1stAveMachine. [1]
Mathery has found success in projects intended both for cultural showcase and in commercial formats. They have directed television commercials for brands such as Google, Nestlé, [2] Target, Jaguar, Deloitte, Ikea, [3] Dolce & Gabbana, and KFC. [4]
Mathery's interactive exhibition Pastello - Draw Act was commissioned and exhibited [5] by the National Gallery of Victoria in Australia. It subsequently toured internationally. The NGV also exhibited and acquired for its collection "Fruit Wares," Mathery's series of fruit-themed homewares. [6]
Mathery wrote and directed the opening film for the OFFF festival 2018 in Barcelona, in addition to design the overarching branding and marketing campaign for the festival. [7] Another Mathery film project, Fiber Affair, premiered on Nowness and was shortlisted by the Berlin Film Festival. [8]
Mathery's work has included product design, such as the Josie Chair [9] [10] and the fashion-inspired collection they created in collaboration with 69, Kloke and FFIXXED Studios. [11]
Mathery's Pastello - Draw Act was named a winner in the 2014 IDEA Awards. [12] It was also named by Wired as one of the 27 most inspiring designs of 2014 [13] and by Domus as one of the top 15 design projects for kids of 2014. [14]
Mathery has been awarded the Young Guns Award 16 [15] and their work has been featured in additional magazines including Vogue , i-D , Frame , Casa Vogue Brazil, Design Quarterly, Gourmet Traveller, Home and Dècor Malaysia, Monocle , Vanity Fair , and Vogue Italia .
Mathery's work is featured in the book Visual Feast, Contemporary Food Staging and Photography [16] from Gestalten Verlag and is the subject of the 37th issue of Un Sedicesimo (Un sedicesimo 37: The Sample Book by Mathery Studio), a magazine published bimonthly by Corraini Edizioni that focuses each issue on a leading creative professional (the subjects of other issues include Antonio Marras, Giulio Iacchetti, and Martí Guixé). Mathery's exhibition design Tubo is featured in the book Happening 2: Design for Events, published by Frame magazine. [17]
Mathery's work was exhibited as part of the Italian Design Under 35 exhibition at the Triennale Milano in New Delhi, [18] as well as in the 2016 Hangzhou International Design Week in China [19] and the 2015 Milan Design Week at the Triennale Museum in Italy. Their work has been exhibited by additional major cultural institutions including Foundation Mons (Brussels), Modefabriek (Amsterdam), TAC (Eindhoven) and the Science and Technology Museum of Milan. Several of those institutions also hosted lectures and workshops by Mathery, as have additional institutions including XUE XUE Institute (Taipei), NABA (Milan), The Public Society (New York), National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne), RMIT (Melbourne), and Milan Trade School.
Gaetano Pesce was an Italian architect and a design pioneer of the 20th century. Pesce was born in La Spezia in 1939, and he grew up in Padua and Florence. During his 50-year career, Pesce worked as an architect, urban planner, and industrial designer. His outlook is considered broad and humanistic, and his work is characterized by an inventive use of color and materials, asserting connections between the individual and society, through art, architecture, and design to reappraise mid-twentieth-century modern life.
Giuseppe Pagano was an Italian architect, notable for his involvement in the movement of rationalist architecture in Italy up to the end of the Second World War. He designed exhibitions, furniture and interiors and was an amateur photographer. He was also a long-time editor of the magazine Casabella.
Achille Castiglioni was an Italian architect and designer of furniture, lighting, radiograms and other objects. As a professor of design, he advised his students "If you are not curious, forget it. If you are not interested in others, what they do and how they act, then being a designer is not the right job for you."
Vico Magistretti was an Italian architect who was also active as an industrial designer, furniture designer, and academic. As a collaborator of humanist architect Ernesto Nathan Rogers, one of Magistretti's first projects was the "poetic" round church in the experimental Milan neighbourhood of QT8. He later designed mass-produced appliances, lighting, and furniture for companies such as Cassina S.p.A., Artemide, and Oluce. These designs won several awards, including the Compasso d'Oro and the Minerva Medal of the Chartered Society of Industrial Artists & Designers in 1986.

Eugenio Gerli was an Italian architect and designer. In an intense working life spanning more than six decades, Eugenio Gerli explored many different areas of his profession. He built villas, apartment blocks, office blocks, factories, banks and stores, and also restored historic buildings. He often completed his works with custom-made interiors and furniture.This diverse range of projects inspired his industrial design and today many have become icons, like the S83 chair, the PS 142 armchair Clamis, the Jamaica cabinet and the Graphis System.
Fashion Film Festival Milano is an international fashion film festival and cultural event that takes place annually during Milan Fashion Week in Milan, Italy in collaboration with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. Founded in 2014 by Constanza Cavalli Etro, Fashion Film Festival Milano presents fashion film as a cinematographic product realized by the fashion industry as a communication and marketing tool. Since 2017, Fashion Film Festival Milano takes place as a hybrid event with digital screenings and in-person events that introduce fashion film to a global audience.
