Matt Kudu (born November 2, 1981) [1] is a former professional Canadian football player, who played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts.

Early years

Kudu, born in Toronto and grew up in Mississauga, Ontario, attended Clarkson Secondary School and transferred to Lorne Park Secondary School where he won a Metro Bowl Championship as a senior in 2001. He was twice named Toronto Star All-Star and Toronto Sun All-Star while in high school. [2] He also played in the Ontario Varsity Football League with the Mississauga Warriors and was an all-star lineman winning one OVFL Championship. He was inducted into the OVFL Hall of Fame in 2006. Kudu studied at Eastern Michigan University and is pursuing his teaching certificate. He played in at least 11 out of 12 games all four years for the Eastern Michigan Eagles, was named Defensive player of the week three times, and named the Top-Conditioned Athlete at Eastern Michigan as a senior in 2004. Professional career

Kudu attended the CFL Evaluation Camp in 2005 and was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders and spent the season on the practice roster. In April, 2006, Toronto Argonauts signed Kudu as a free agent [2] and dressed for the first seven games of the 2006 CFL season recording five defensive tackles and two quarterback sacks before finishing the year on the injured reserve list with a knee injury. [1] He played in both 2007 pre-season games for Toronto but was released before the regular season. [4] [5] [6]

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Kudu as a free agent on October 23, 2007, and re-signed him February 5, 2008. [7] Kudu was released by the Bombers on March 16, 2009. [8]

O'Shea played 16 seasons in the CFL for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts from 1993 to 2008. He retired second all-time in career tackles with 1,154 and is one of only three players to record over 1,000 tackles. He won the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian Award in 1999 after recording 84 tackles, 13 special teams tackles and three interceptions that year. O'Shea is a three-time Grey Cup champion as a player, having won all three with the Argonauts in 1996, 1997, and 2004. He is also a two-time Grey Cup winning head coach, having won with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2019 and 2021; O'Shea also won the Grey Cup previously as a special teams coach with the Toronto Argonauts in the 100th Grey Cup.

The 2007 CFL season was the 54th season of modern-day Canadian football, the 50th season of the Canadian Football League, and many special events were held to commemorate the event. Regular-season play began on June 28 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario and concluded on November 3. The playoffs began on November 11 and ended with the championship game, the 95th Grey Cup, at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, on November 25, 2007, with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as champions.

He won his first Grey Cup championship in 2017 in his rookie year with the Toronto Argonauts. He played U Sports football for the York Lions from 2012 to 2016. Kolankowski majored in Law and Society while at York University.

The 2021 CFL season was the 67th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 63rd season of the Canadian Football League. The regular season began on August 5 and ended November 20. Each team played 14 regular season games over 16 weeks. Previously, the season was scheduled to begin on June 10 and end on October 30, with 18 games being played per team over 21 weeks, but this was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. Hamilton hosted the 108th Grey Cup on December 12, 2021.

Akeem Whonder is a former Canadian football linebacker who played one game in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played U Sports football for the Windsor Lancers and went unselected in the 2014 CFL Draft, later being signed by the Calgary Stampeders. He was a member of their Grey Cup championship team that year and later had stints with the Toronto Argonauts, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He played his only game with the Tiger-Cats in 2017.
