Matt Kursonis (born March 5, 2004) is an American collegiate ice hockey forward currently playing for the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders in the NCAA Division I. Known for his strong two-way play, faceoff success, and offensive production, Kursonis was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie Team following his freshman season. [1]
Kursonis was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. [1] He began playing hockey at a young age and developed his early skills with the Providence Capitals [2] youth program. He attended St. George’s School in Middletown, Rhode Island, where he played four years of varsity hockey, serving as team captain and earning team MVP honors in his senior year. At St. George’s, he was a four-year varsity player and served as captain and team MVP in his senior season, recording 53 points in 82 games over his high school career. [1]
Kursonis played two seasons of junior hockey (2022–2024) with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). Over 100 games, he recorded 73 points (35 goals, 38 assists). During the 2022–23 season, he was named the team’s Most Improved Player and helped lead the Bulldogs to the Fred Page Cup Finals, contributing 12 points in 16 playoff games.
Kursonis joined the Holy Cross Crusaders for the 2024–25 season. In his freshman year, he appeared in 27 games and totaled 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists). [1]
