Matt Lepay

Matt Lepay (born March 9, 1962) is an American sportscaster. Since 1988, Lepay has been the radio voice for the Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team, and since 1994, the voice of the Wisconsin Badgers football team. [1]

Early life

Lepay is a native of Vandalia, Ohio and graduated from Ohio State University. [2]

Career

Radio

Lepay came to Madison, Wisconsin in 1988 and began calling games for the Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team that same year. In 1994, following a brief period as sports director for WTSO Radio in Madison, he began working for WIBA handling Wisconsin Badgers football broadcasts as well. [3] Lepay is currently employed by the university through their rights deal with the national college sports broadcasting outfit Learfield Sports. [4]

Television

Lepay also hosts the weekly Badger Sports Report, an all-sport Badger athletics/coach's show which airs on Fox Sports Wisconsin and statewide on local stations, including WISC-TV. [5]

Milwaukee Brewers

In January 2014, it was announced that Lepay would handle play-by-play for the Milwaukee Brewers television broadcasts on Fox Sports Wisconsin, as a substitute for Brian Anderson, while Anderson handled national assignments for Turner Sports, including NBA playoff coverage for TNT and baseball coverage for TBS. [6] [7] Lepay has continued to fill in for Anderson in each subsequent season, into 2021. [8] [9]

Lepay is a seven-time winner of the Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year Award. [10]

Stockton began his career in Philadelphia, then moved to Pittsburgh, where he worked as the sports director for KDKA-TV. In Boston, he called Celtics games for WBZ-TV and Red Sox games for WSBK-TV before transitioning to national broadcasting, which included calling the 1975 World Series for NBC and later, the NBA Finals for CBS. In a career that spanned over five decades, Stockton worked for several different networks, most prominently CBS Sports, Fox Sports, and Turner Sports.

Thomas Wade Brennaman is an American television sportscaster. He is the son of former Cincinnati Reds radio sportscaster Marty Brennaman. He served as the television voice of the Arizona Diamondbacks from 1998 to 2006, and as the voice of the Cincinnati Reds from 2007 through 2020. His career with the Reds and Fox Sports ended abruptly when he was caught on a hot mic making a homophobic statement during a game broadcast. His on-air apology, in which he interrupted himself to call "a drive into deep left field by Castellanos", became an internet meme. Since leaving the Reds, he has served as a commentator for the Roberto Clemente League and for Chatterbox Sports.

James Joseph Britt was an American sportscaster who broadcast Major League Baseball games in Boston, Massachusetts, and Cleveland, Ohio, during the 1940s and 1950s.
