Matt Wheeler (also known as Matt JL Wheeler) is a British screenwriter and producer who has worked in television and film. [1] [2]

Education

Wheeler graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in English literature, [2] before attending the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television where he gained an MFA in screenwriting. [3] [4] He was awarded the BAFTA scholarship, and in addition to winning the 2010 UCLA showcase competition, he was also granted the prestigious Samuel Goldwyn Award. [1] [5]

Works

Wheeler adapted "The Informant" for Sony (based on the Thomas Perry novel) [6] and "Tin Men" for Warner Brothers [7] as well as writing the screenplay for the 2016 film Who Gets the Dog? , [8] starring Alicia Silverstone. [9]

In 2015, he joined CBS's Hawaii Five-0 , where he worked for five seasons, [10] with writing credits on 32 episodes. [11] [12] For seasons 9 and 10, Wheeler was a co-showrunner. [13] Wheeler wrote the pilot and co-created the summer event series, Salvation, which premiered on CBS on 12 July 2017. [14] [15]

McGarrett is a former United States Navy officer and the leader of a special state police task force, which is called Five-O. McGarrett was portrayed by actor Jack Lord in the original show from 1968 to 1980, and later by Alex O'Loughlin in the series' remake from 2010. Throughout the show, McGarrett is partner to Detective Danny "Danno" Williams.

They are each American crime dramas that aired on CBS. Hawaii Five-0 revolves around a task force, led by Steve McGarrett, that investigates crimes in Hawaii. MacGyver centers around Angus MacGyver who uses nonviolent methods to keep the world safe, with the help of a team of undercover government agents. Magnum P.I. follows private investigator Thomas Magnum, who solves crimes in Hawaii with the help of his friends. The universe is also connected to the so-called Bellisario-verse, which consists of the entire NCIS franchise and JAG, via two direct crossovers between Hawaii Five-0 and NCIS: Los Angeles.
