Matthew Rowe (born 28 April 1988) is a Welsh racing cyclist. [4]
Born in Cardiff, Rowe began racing at a young age, initially riding with his parents on a tandem. He began to enjoy cycling and became a member of the Maindy Flyers, based at Maindy Stadium. As a junior, he was a member of British Cycling's Olympic Development Programme, [5] Rowe became the 2005 junior scratch race European champion, [6] and finished eighth in the same event at the junior world championships. [7] Rowe received funding for three to four months from the Dave Rayner fund in 2007. [8] Rowe suffered from Glandular Fever in 2007, and hoping to make his mark on the Premier Calendar, riding for Rapha Condor recycling.co.uk for the 2008 season. [9]
Rowe studied at university for a business degree until 2009 and currently studies as Cornell Law School whilst maintaining membership of the prestigious Cornell Law Review, with the hope of cycling full-time with the aim of a Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2010. [10] However his hopes were scuppered by injuries sustained by a crash in the Rás Tailteann. [11]
His brother Luke is also a racing cyclist, and his father Courtney coaches the Paralympian Simon Richardson.
Rowe is married to Olympic, World and European team pursuit gold medallist Dani King. [12] The couple became engaged in 2015. [13] The couple married in Llandaff Cathedral on 30 September 2017.
Matt Rowe founded Rowe & King (May 2015), a cycle coaching company, alongside father Courtney, fiancée Dani King and brother Luke Rowe. Rowe & King offer coaching in the sport of cycling utilising the extensive experience gained by Luke, Dani, Courtney and Matt himself.
James McCallum is a Scottish former racing cyclist who last rode for the NFTO Pro Cycling squad. He represented Scotland in the Team Pursuit, Points & Scratch Races at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, and again in 2006 in Melbourne in the Scratch, Points & Road Races, winning a bronze medal in the Scratch race.
Catherine Rachel "Katie" Prankerd is a Welsh former professional road and track cyclist.
Kenny De Ketele is a Belgian former professional racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2007 and 2021, entirely for UCI ProTeam Sport Vlaanderen–Baloise. He won eight medals at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, including a gold medal in the Madison at the 2012 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, partnering Gijs Van Hoecke. Following his retirement, De Ketele became a directeur sportif with Sport Vlaanderen–Baloise.
Tim Mertens is a former Belgian professional racing cyclist. He got most of his successes on the track.
Bryan Taylor is an English cyclist, specialising in road & track riding. He was the British National Stayers Champion for two consecutive years in 1991 and 1992, and the derny champs in 2003, 2005 and 2006. He won the pursuit & the points race at the UCI World Masters Track Championships at Manshester in 2002, in the 30-34 age category.
Alexandra Greenfield is a Welsh former road and track cyclist from Barry. She began competing at a young age with the Maindy Flyers children's cycle club before joining Cardiff Ajax CC. Greenfield holds the record for the 5 km Tandem Standing Start event on the track along with Katie Curtis, with a time of 7 minutes 4.424 seconds. The record was set in Newport Velodrome on 10 June 2004. She transitioned from Wiggle High5's former technical director and assistant directeur sportif, to be Cycling New Zealand's women's endurance assistant coach by mid-2018.
Russell Williams is an English former professional road and track cyclist from London. Williams is also a cycling coach and David Duffield's co-commentator on Eurosport.
Luke Rowe is a Welsh racing cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam Ineos Grenadiers.
George Richard Atkins is a British former track and road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2014 and 2016. He was a member of British Cycling's Olympic Development Programme. In 2009 he won the junior race at the British National Road Race Championships. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games he won the silver medal in the track points race. After the Commonwealth Games Atkins took a break from the sport but returned in the summer of 2011.
Jonathan "Jon" Mould is a Welsh racing cyclist from Newport. Mould is a member of British Cycling's Olympic Academy Programme which he joined in 2010.
Elia Viviani is an Italian professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Ineos Grenadiers. On 10 May 2015, Viviani won his first Grand Tour stage victory at the Giro d'Italia, winning stage 2 in a bunch sprint before Moreno Hofland and André Greipel.
Dame Laura Rebecca Kenny, Lady Kenny, is a former British professional track and road cyclist who specialised in track endurance events, specifically the team pursuit, omnium, scratch race, elimination race and madison disciplines.
Danielle 'Dani' Rowe MBE is a British former road and track cyclist. She retired from cycling in December 2018.
Amy Louise Cure is an Australian former professional track cyclist. She cycles for Team Jayco–AIS. She has set several world records. She won a junior world championship race in 2009, and represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She is the first person in history to medal at every endurance track event at world championship level; with three newly gained medals in the team pursuit, omnium, and madison at 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Hong Kong.
Lauren Ellis is a New Zealand former road and track cyclist.
Elinor Jane Barker is a Welsh road and track racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Team Uno-X Mobility. Representing Great Britain in international competitions, Barker is an Olympic champion, a three-time World champion and seven-time European champion in the team pursuit, as well as a three-time World champion in the points and scratch races, a World champion in the madison, a two-time European madison champion and one time European elimination race champion. Representing Wales, Barker was also the points race champion at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Katie Archibald, is an elite racing cyclist, specialising in endurance track cycling events in which she represents Great Britain and Scotland.
