Mattias Johan Nilsson (born 23 January 1994) is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman, currently playing for the Sparta Warriors in the GET-ligaen (GET), the top-tier league in Norway.

Playing career

Nilsson was born in Visby on the island of Gotland, Sweden. His youth team was Visby/Roma HK. He moved to Leksands IF prior to the 2010–11 season, playing for the club's J18 team in J18 Allsvenskan, the top-tier J18 league in Sweden. In the 2012–13 season, he played 41 games for Leksand's J20 team in J20 SuperElit, scoring 23 points. For the 2013–14 season, Nilsson was put in the roster of Leksand's senior team in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), the top-tier senior ice hockey league in Sweden. He has played 12 games for the team.

On 16 July 2019, with Leksands promoted to the SHL from the Allsvenskan, Nilsson left as a free agent to sign a one-year contract in Norway with the Sparta Warriors of the GET-ligaen. [1]

He appeared in the Swedish national junior team as well, playing 6 games for the U18 team at the 2012 IIHF World U18 Championships and earning a silver medal, as well as playing a further 10 exhibition games for the team.

Leksands Idrottsförening is a Swedish ice hockey team from the town of Leksand in the region of Dalarna. The team plays in the top-tier league, SHL, after succeeding through the 2019 SHL qualifiers and thus earning promotion to the SHL. The club's home arena is Tegera Arena, which seats 7,650 spectators.

Timrå IK

Mora IK

Mora IK is a Swedish professional ice hockey club from Mora in northern Dalarna. After failing the 2019 SHL qualifiers, Mora has been relegated for play in the second-tier league, HockeyAllsvenskan. Mora has previously played 25 seasons in the top tier, including four seasons in Elitserien. The 2013 Kvalserien was the 39th Kvalserien, consisting of two Elitserien (SHL) teams and four HockeyAllsvenskan teams. It began on 14 March 2013 and ended on 5 April 2013. The 2013 Kvalserien determined which two teams of the participating ones would play in the 2013–14 SHL season and which four teams would play in the 2013–14 HockeyAllsvenskan season.

The 2012–13 HockeyAllsvenskan season was the 8th season of the HockeyAllsvenskan, the second-highest level of ice hockey in Sweden. The 2014–15 HockeyAllsvenskan season was the tenth season of the second tier of ice hockey in Sweden under that name. The league featured 14 teams, including Stockholm-based AIK, who were relegated from the SHL following four seasons in the top league. Also joining HockeyAllsvenskan was HC Vita Hästen, which marked the return of elite-level hockey to Norrköping.
