Mattoon Community Unit School District 2 is a unified school district located in the city of Mattoon, which in turn is located in Coles County, Illinois.
Today, Mattoon's chief school district is composed of four schools: Riddle Elementary School, which serves grades K-5; [1] Arland D. Williams, Jr. Elementary School, another elementary school that parallels Riddle in terms of grades; [2] Mattoon Middle School, the district's bridge between the elementary and high schools, serves grades 6-8. [3] Mattoon High School serves grades 9-12, finalizing education for students in the community unit school district. [4] The school runs a prekindergarten program called the Franklin Preschool. The newest edition to the district is Leaders Innovating for Tomorrow (LIFT) Central Illinois, a regional high school innovation center that teaches vocational and hands-on learning.
The current superintendent is Tim Condron, [5] the mascot of Mattoon High School is the green wave, [6] while the mascot of Mattoon Middle School is the wildcat. [3]
The original Mattoon High School, famous for its fish-shaped fountain, was relocated in 1956; the fish fountain, which symbolizes the past and future of the district's students, was moved to the new high school in 2005 during renovations. [5]

Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96 is a K-8 school district centered in the Lake County village of Long Grove, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The mascot of Woodlawn Middle School is the wolf, while the mascot of Twin Grove Middle School is the colt; in the elementary schools, the cougar is the mascot of Kildeer Elementary, the wildcat is the mascot of Ivy Hall Elementary, the cub is the mascot of Country Meadows Elementary, and the puma is the mascot of Prairie Elementary. Willow Grove's mascot is Buddy the Bear.
Paxton-Buckley-Loda Community Unit School District 10 is a unified school district centered in Paxton, is in rural area in Illinois, the county seat of the Illinois division of Ford County. It is composed of four schools, or two elementary schools, a middle school, and one high school. Clara Peterson Elementary School services prekindergarteners, first graders, and second graders; Paxton-Buckley-Loda Eastlawn Elementary School builds on this by educating third graders, fourth graders, fifth graders. Paxton-Buckley Loda Junior High School bridges Eastlawn and the district high school by educating sixth through eighth graders, and graduates head to Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School to complete their precollegiate education. Oakland Community Unit School District 5 is composed of two schools; one school is a combined elementary and junior high school, and the other is a senior high school; students in kindergarten and grades one though eight attend Lake Crest Elementary School, which is under the direction of principal Jim Eastin. Graduates move forward to attend nearby Oakland High School, which educates those in grades nine though twelve; students in this district may then pursue a collegiate education. Oakland High School is governed by the same principal as Lake Crest Elementary School, Jim Eastin. The district superintendent is named Michael Smith, and the districtwide mascot is the Titan.
