Maurizio Conte

Maurizio Conte (born 22 September 1964 in San Martino di Lupari) is a Venetist politician from Veneto, Italy.

A member of Liga VenetaLega Nord since 1993, Conte was first elected to the Regional Council of Veneto in 2000. From 2001 to 2010 Conte was also secretary of the party for the Province of Padua. Re-elected for a third term to the Council in 2010, he was appointed regional minister of Environment in Zaia I Government. [1] [2]

In 2015 Conte left Liga Veneta in order to join the Tosi List for Veneto [3] and, in the following regional election, was re-elected to the Regional Council for the new party.

The Venetian regional election of 2015 took place in Veneto on 31 May 2015, as part of a big round of regional elections in Italy. Venetian voters elected their President and their Regional Council, whose members had been reduced to 51, including the President.

The Tosi List for Veneto was a centrist and regionalist political party in Veneto, Italy, named after its leader Flavio Tosi. The party emerged in March 2015 as a split from Liga Veneta–Lega Nord. Its members were instrumental in the establishment of Act! at the Italian level in July 2015, and the LTV was disbanded in July 2017.

Of the 51 members, 49 were elected in provincial constituencies by proportional representation using the largest remainder method with a Droop quota and open lists, while the remaining two were the elected President and the candidate for President who came second. The winning coalition won a bonus of seats in order to make sure the elected President had a majority in the Council.
