Pétur Karl Guðmundsson is an Icelandic former professional basketball player and coach. Standing 2.18 m (7'2"), weighing 118 kg (260 lb) and playing the center position, Pétur was the first Icelander and one of the first European players ever to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Often described as the greatest Icelandic basketball player of all time, he was named the Icelandic Basketball Player of the 20th century by the Icelandic Basketball Association in 2001, and in 2015, he was inducted in to the National Olympic and Sports Association of Iceland Hall of Fame. Pétur was also a member of the Icelandic national basketball team from 1978 to 1992 but missed several years of competition due to FIBA rules banning professional players from playing for national teams.
Hlynur Elías Bæringsson is an Icelandic professional basketball player for Stjarnan of the Úrvalsdeild karla and a member of the Icelandic national basketball team. He won the Icelandic championship in 2010 as a member of Snæfell and the Swedish championship in 2011 as a member of Sundsvall Dragons.

Berglind Lára Gunnarsdóttir is an Icelandic basketball coach and former player who played 26 games for the Icelandic national basketball team. She spent her entire playing career with Snæfell where she won three straight national championships from 2014 to 2016 and the Icelandic Basketball Cup in 2016. In 2017, she was named to the Úrvalsdeild Domestic All-First Team.
Margrét Kara Sturludóttir is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. She won the Icelandic championship in 2008 and 2010 and was named the Úrvalsdeild Domestic Player of the Year in 2011.
Danero Axel Thomas is an American and Icelandic basketball player. A naturalized Icelandic citizen, he debuted with the Icelandic national basketball team in 2018. Thomas played college basketball for Murray State from 2006 to 2010 and later professionally in Iceland for over a decade.

In 2023, he won his second Icelandic championship, this time with Tindastóll.
Callum Reese Lawson is a British professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Western Wyoming Community College and Arizona Christian University before going on to play professionally. In 2021, he won the Icelandic championship as a member of Þór Þorlákshöfn. The following season he repeated as champion, this time with Valur.
The 2022–23 Úrvalsdeild karla was the 72nd season of the Úrvalsdeild karla, the top tier men's basketball league in Iceland. The season started on 6 October 2022 and ended on 18 May 2023. Tindastóll won its third title, and its first in 39 years, by defeating Valur 3–2 in the Finals.
David Alan Grissom is an American and Icelandic former basketball player and coach. He played college basketball for South Plains College in Texas and Old Dominion University in Virginia before playing and coaching professionally in Iceland for several years.
