Maya Anne Ford (born January 8, 1979, in Oakland, California) is an American musician and the former bass player of rock band The Donnas. [1] She also goes by the name Donna F.
Maya Anne Ford, was born on January 8, 1979, in Oakland, California, on the same day as her former band member Torry Castellano. She met future bandmates Torry Castellano, Brett Anderson and Allison Robertson in junior high school. [2] They formed a band in 8th grade called Ragady Anne, later calling themselves The Electrocutes at Palo Alto High School. Ford started to play the bass guitar at age 13. Initially she was playing guitar (she received an acoustic guitar from her cousin), but then she decided to switch to the bass. [3] [4] When her band (then known as Screen) started in May 1993, she had had approximately six months of playing experience.

The Donnas were an American rock band formed in Palo Alto, California, in 1993. The band consisted of Brett Anderson, Allison Robertson, Maya Ford and Torry Castellano. Amy Cesari replaced Castellano, who left the band in 2009 due to tendonitis. They drew inspiration from the Ramones, The Runaways, Girlschool, AC/DC, Bachman–Turner Overdrive and Kiss. Rolling Stone has stated that "the Donnas offer a guileless take on adolescent alienation; they traffic in kicks, not catharsis, fun rather than rage". MTV has stated that the band offers "a good old-fashioned rock & roll party".

The "Vol. 16" in the title refers to the album being released in the band's sixteenth year, the group having formed in 1993.
