The mayor of the City of Amarillo is the chief executive officer of the city of Amarillo, Texas. The current mayor is Cole Stanley, who was elected on May 6, 2023, and took office on May 15 of that month.

For the greater part of his life, Vandergriff was a Democrat, but he became a Republican around 1990.

Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is the largest school district of Tucson, Arizona, in terms of enrollment. Dr. Gabriel Trujillo is the superintendent, appointed on September 12, 2017, by the Governing Board. As of 2016, TUSD had more than 47,670 students. As of Fall 2012, according to Superintendent John Pedicone, TUSD had 50,000 students. District enrollment has declined over the last 10 years and TUSD lost 1,700 to 2,000 students per year for the two or three years prior to 2012.

The 1921 TCU Horned Frogs football team represented Texas Christian University (TCU) as a member of the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association (TIAA) during the 1921 college football season. Led by William L. Driver in his second and final year as head coach, the Horned Frogs compiled an overall record of 6–3–1 with a mark of 2–1 in TIAA play. The 1944 Ellington Field Fliers football team represented the United States Army Air Force's Ellington Field, located in Houston, during the 1944 college football season. Led by head coach James L. McCullough, the Fliers compiled a record of 6–3–2. The team's roster included Joe Lindahl.

The U.S. Professional Water Ski Tour was an annual standardized series of professional water ski tournaments held across the United States and Canada. The tour began in 1984. Tour stops were typically held on public water in metropolitan areas designed to draw large crowds and were televised on cable networks such as ESPN. The tour ceased in 2002.
