The Mayor of Haifa is the head of the executive branch of the political system in Haifa. The mayor's office administers all city services, public property, most public agencies, and enforces city and state laws. The term of office is five years.

Haifa is the third-largest city in Israel—after Jerusalem and Tel Aviv—with a population of 282,832 in 2021. The city of Haifa forms part of the Haifa metropolitan area, the third-most populous metropolitan area in Israel. It is home to the Baháʼí Faith's Baháʼí World Centre, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a destination for Baháʼí pilgrimage.

Kiryat Yam is a city in the Haifa Bay district of Israel, 12 km (7 mi) north of Haifa. One of a group of Haifa suburbs known as the Krayot, it is located on the Mediterranean coast, between Kiryat Haim and the Tzur Shalom industrial area, east of Kiryat Motzkin. In 2021 it had a population of 39,441.
Nesher is a city in the Haifa District of Israel. In 2021 it had a population of 23,760. It was founded in 1923 as a workers town for the Nesher Cement factory, the first cement factory in the country.
Yona Yahav is an Israeli lawyer and politician. He was formerly a member of the Knesset for the Labor Party. Yahav was the mayor of Haifa between 2003 and 2018. In the 2018 Haifa mayoral election, he lost to Einat Kalisch-Rotem.
The Carmelit is an underground funicular railway in Haifa, Israel. Construction started in 1956 and ended in 1959. It is the oldest underground transit system in the Middle East and was the only underground transit system in Israel until the 2023 opening of Tel Aviv Light Rail. The Carmelit has closed down for repair on three occasions.
Abba Hushi was an Israeli politician who served as mayor of Haifa for eighteen years between 1951 and 1969. Hushi was one of the founders and activists of Hashomer Hatzair movement in Poland. In July 1920, he immigrated to the then British Mandate of Palestine with a group of 130 Jewish pioneers. There he took the Hebrew surname "Hushi" ["speedy"], a translation of his original name, Schneller. He built roads and drained swamps, and helped to found kibbutz Beit Alfa. He was one of the founding members of the Histadrut labor federation. In 1927, he settled in Haifa and joined the Ahdut HaAvoda party, which later merged with Mapai. He was secretary of the Haifa Workers Council from 1931 to 1951. Hushi was elected to Israel's first Knesset in 1949 as a member of Mapai. Before the 1951 elections, he left the government to become mayor of Haifa. As mayor, he helped to found the University of Haifa, the Haifa Theatre, the Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art, the Mane-Katz Museum and the Carmelit.

Kiryat Haim is a neighberhood of Haifa. It is considered part of the Krayot cluster in the northern part of metropolitan Haifa. In 2008, Kiryat Haim had a population of just under 27,000. Kiryat Haim is within the municipal borders of the city of Haifa and lies on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea.
Shai Abuhatsira is an Israeli public servant. He served as a deputy Mayor of Haifa between 2011 and 2018. Abuhatsira is the youngest to ever serve in this position.
Ahmadiyya in Israel is a small Ahmadi community in Israel. The community was first established in the region in the 1920s in what was then the British Mandate of Palestine. Israel is the only country in the Middle East where the Ahmadi branch can be openly practiced. As such, Kababir, a neighbourhood on Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel, acts as the Middle East headquarters of the community. It is unknown how many Israeli Ahmadis there are, but it is estimated there are about 2,200 Ahmadis in Kababir alone.
Haifa Pride is an annual event which takes place in Haifa, Israel, in celebration of the LGBTQ community, was first hold in 2007. The main event is the Pride Parade which was attended by 3,000 people in 2016, including the city's mayor, Yona Yahav. The 3 kilometer long parade route culminates in Gan HaEm Park in Haifa's Merkaz HaCarmel neighborhood on Mount Carmel.
Einat Kalisch-Rotem is an Israeli urban planner and politician serving as mayor of Haifa since 2018. She is the first female mayor to lead any of the three major cities in Israel.
Naama Lazimi is a politician and Member of the Knesset for the Labor Party. Previously, she was a member of the Haifa City Council and vice chairman of the Student Association at the University of Haifa. She is also involved in LGBT rights activism.
Elections are held in Haifa to elect the city's mayor. Currently, such elections are regularly scheduled to elect mayors to five-year terms.
