Meharry Medical College is a private historically black medical school affiliated with the United Methodist Church and located in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1876 as the Medical Department of Central Tennessee College, it was the first medical school for African Americans in the South. This region had the highest proportion of this ethnicity, but they were excluded from many public and private segregated institutions of higher education, particularly after the end of Reconstruction.

UConn Health is the branch of the University of Connecticut that oversees clinical care, advanced biomedical research, and academic education in medicine. As of 2021, HHC is the largest municipal healthcare system in the United States with $10.9 billion in annual revenues, serving 1.4 million patients, including more than 475,000 uninsured city residents, providing services interpreted in more than 190 languages. HHC was created in 1969 by the New York State Legislature as a public benefit corporation. It is similar to a municipal agency, but has a board of directors. It operates eleven acute care hospitals, five nursing homes, six diagnostic and treatment centers, and more than 70 community-based primary care sites, serving primarily the poor and the working class. HHC's own MetroPlus Health Plan is one of the New York area's largest providers of government-sponsored health insurance and is the plan of choice for nearly half a million New Yorkers.

Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) is a 691-bed non-profit, tertiary research and academic medical center located in Neptune Township, New Jersey, servicing coastal New Jersey and the Central Jersey area. JSUMC is the region’s only university-level academic medical center. The hospital is part of the Hackensack Meridian Health Health System and is the system's second largest hospital. JSUMC is affiliated with the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. JSUMC is also an ACS designated level II trauma center with a rooftop helipad handling medevac patients. Attached to the medical center is the K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital that treats infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to the age of 21. The health system serves the more than 75,000 residents of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, along with 150,000 additional residents in the greater northwestern Pennsylvania region. The hospital records over nearly 380,000 total patient visits per year, including 7,000 inpatient admissions per year, while logging over 37,000 emergency department visits and over 600 births annually. The health system is currently the largest employer in Crawford County with 1,450 employees at its Meadville campuses and another 250 at Titusville Area Hospital, with its overall economic impact on the community estimated to be $300 million annually.
