The Mediatrix Telecom basketball team represented the Philippines in the 15th FIBA Asia Champions Cup held from May 15 to May 22, 2004 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

The team participated in the 2004 National Basketball Conference Invitatonal Cup held from February 23 to 29, 2004 wherein they emerged champions. [1]

National Basketball Conference

The National Basketball Conference was a regional-based basketball league in the Philippines formed in 2004. The league is sanctioned by the Philippine national sport association for basketball, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas. Teams are also sponsored by the local government and sponsors. In 2008, it merged with the Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA), and Third Force Inc. (TFI) to form the new Liga Pilipinas.

Competition in the FIBA-Asia Champions Cup

Coached by Moses Nelson Kallos and assisted by long-time Philippine Basketball Association referee Igmidio Cahanding [2] Mediatrix Telecom finished 10th among 10 competing teams.. It was the worst finish for a Philippine club team in the Champions Cup.

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of twelve company-branded franchised teams. Founded in 1975, it is the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second oldest continuously professional basketball league existing in the world after the NBA, established before the "open era" of basketball in 1990 where FIBA allowed longstanding domestic leagues, which mostly had predated the PBA, to become professional. The league's regulations are a hybrid of rules from the NBA and FIBA.

The 2013 FIBA Asia Championship for Men was the intercontinental championship for basketball organized by FIBA Asia that served as the qualifying tournament for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain. Beirut, Lebanon was supposed to host the tournament but the hosting rights was given to the Philippines citing the Syrian Civil War and security concerns in the Middle East in general. Mighty Sports is a basketball team based in the Philippines played in various domestic leagues and tournaments in the country such as the Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League (PCBL) and the Republica Cup. The team won four championships in the Republica Cup in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2018.
