The Meetjesland is a historical region in the north-west of the province East Flanders in Belgium.

There are many legends surrounding the origin of the name. The most known is the one of Emperor Charles V (Charles V) who was known for his sexual appetite. The story goes that when he traveled through the region people hid their daughters and their attractive young women, making emperor Charles think this region was full of old women (meetjes).
Due to its historical nature, "Meetjesland" is not a fixed region as such. Even so, it is widely accepted to comprise the following municipalities:
Eeklo is considered to be the capital of "Meetjesland".
The official holiday of "Meetjesland" is celebrated on 21 June.

Sayint, also known as Amhara Sayint, is a district in the Amhara Region, Ethiopia. It is named after the historical district of Amhara Sayint which was located in the same area. Part of the South Wollo Zone, Sayint is bordered on the south by Debre Sina and Mehal Sayint, on the west by the Blue Nile that separates it from the East Gojjam Zone, on the northwest by the Bashilo River that separates it from the South Gondar Zone, on the north by Magdala, on the east by Tenta and on the southeast by Legambo. The major town in Amhara Sayint is Ajibar. Mehal Sayint was created by separating it from the historic Amhara Sayint woreda.
Zikuala is one of the woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Located in the Wag Hemra Zone, Zikuala is bordered on the south by Dehana, on the west it is bordered by the Tekezé River which separates it from the Semien Gondar Zone and Sehala, on the north by Abergele, and on the east by Soqota. The major town in Zikuala is Siyalewa. Sehala woreda was separated from Zikuala.

Steam Train Maldegem-Eeklo, formerly Steam Centre Maldegem, is a heritage railway association based at the former NMBS station of Maldegem in northern Belgium. Standard gauge steam and diesel trains run on the line to Eeklo. A 600 mm narrow gauge line runs from Maldegem to Donk on the former line to Bruges; this was supplemented by the standard gauge line in 1989.

Edouard Heene was a Belgian master builder in the Meetjesland late in the 19th and early in the 20th century. He was a major figure in the monumental architectural development of Eeklo; among his projects was the City Hall with Belfry of Eeklo.
