Megan Nick (born 9 July 1996) is an American freestyle skier specializing in aerials. She competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, where she won the bronze medal in aerials. [1] [2] [3]

Nick went through the qualification and in Final 1, where only six athletes qualify for Final 2, was fifth. In Final 2, her routine was easier than that of the other athletes, in particular, she was the only athlete who did not perform a triple backflip, but she did not make mistakes, whereas many of her competitors did. NBC sports called her a "surprising medalist". [1]

Personal life

Nick attended high school at Champlain Valley Union High School. [4] She grew up competing in gymnastics before transitioning into aerials after attending the U.S. team’s aerial skiing Talent ID camp in Lake Placid during her final year of high school. [5] [6]

Ashley Caldwell is an American freestyle skier who has competed in aerials since 2008. Caldwell was named to the US team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in January 2010 after competing in the sport for only two seasons. The youngest in the event, she reached the finals of the Aerials. Caldwell won her first World Cup aerials event in the United States in Lake Placid, New York, in January 2011 becoming the youngest freestyle female to ever win.

Freestyle skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou and Big Air Shougang in Beijing, China. The events are scheduled to take place between 3 and 19 February 2022. A total of 13 freestyle skiing events will be held.

The women's slopestyle competition in freestyle skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 14 February (qualification) and 15 February (final), at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou. Originally scheduled for 13 February (qualification) and 14 February (final), the events were delayed due to weather. Mathilde Gremaud of Switzerland won the event, improving on her 2018 silver medal. Eileen Gu of China won the silver medal, and Kelly Sildaru of Estonia bronze. For Sildaru, it was the first Olympic medal. This was also the first Winter Olympics medal for Estonia since 2010.

The men's slopestyle competition in freestyle skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 14 February (qualification) and 16 February (final), at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou. Alex Hall of the United States won the event, which was his first Olympic medal. The 2018 silver medalist, Nick Goepper, also of the United States, won silver again. Jesper Tjäder of Sweden was third, also his first Olympic medal.

The women's aerials competition in freestyle skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 14 February at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou. Xu Mengtao of China won the event, which became her first Olympic gold medal. Hanna Huskova of Belarus won the silver medal, and Megan Nick of the United States bronze, also her first Olympic medal.
