Melanie Moore (born September 17, 1991) is an American professional dancer and actress best known as the winner of the eighth season of the U.S. reality television competition So You Think You Can Dance . [1] According to the results announced on the broadcast, Moore won "overwhelmingly", garnering 47% of the vote in a four-way final tally. [2]

Early life and education

Moore was educated in Marietta, Georgia, where she attended Lassiter High School and was crowned homecoming queen. At the time of the SYTYCD competition, she was a 19-year-old college freshman attending Fordham University at Lincoln Center in New York City. [3] Moore trained and competed for twelve years at Centre Stage School of Dance, followed by training at Rhythm Dance Center, both located in Marietta. Career

Moore appeared on the Oxygen TV show All the Right Moves as a member of the Shaping Sound Dance Company. She also appeared on the fourth season of Glee , as a dance pupil enrolled at NYADA. [5]

In 2015, Moore originated the role of Peter Pan in Finding Neverland on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater. [6] , and was nominated for the Fred and Adele Astaire "Best Female Dancer" Award for her work in the role. [7] She played the role of Chava in the 2015 Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof until the show closed on December 31, 2016. She appeared in the 2017 Broadway revival of Hello Dolly! as Ermengarde through the end of the show's run in August 2018. In 2022 she joined the touring cast of To Kill a Mockingbird playing Scout Finch opposite Richard Thomas . [8]

The second and final series of So You Think You Can Dance began on 26 March 2011 and ended on 11 June 2011. The sixteenth season of So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD), an American dance competition reality show on FOX, returned on June 3, 2019. The series has won numerous awards since its debut in 2005, including eleven Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography, the most for any show. This panel of judges again features series creator Nigel Lythgoe, as well as the return of ballroom dance champion and expert Mary Murphy. New to the panel are choreographer Laurieann Gibson and B-boy dancer/choreographer Dominic "D-Trix" Sandoval, who serve as the third and fourth judges during auditions and live shows. Cat Deeley continues in her role as host for a fifteenth consecutive season, for which she has earned five Emmy Award nominations. The grand prize is $250,000, a cover article in Dance Spirit, and the title of "America's Favorite Dancer".

Ava Michelle Cota is an American actress. She is known for her role as the character Jodi Kreyman in the Netflix comedies Tall Girl and Tall Girl 2. She made regular appearances in the third to seventh seasons of Dance Moms, as well as being a member of the Select Ensemble team in season four for a short time.
