1 LCL MLC Edward Holden, whose term did not expire until 1950, resigned on 8 January 1947, two months before the 1947 Council elections. The vacancy for the remainder of Holden's term was filled by Frank Perry on 8 March, alongside the other class, whose terms would expire in 1953. [1]

Holden Kingswood car model

The Holden Kingswood is a full-size car that was manufactured in Australia by Holden, from the beginning of the HK series in 1968 through to the conclusion of the WB series in 1984. Prior to 1968, the full-size Holden range of family cars comprised the Holden Standard, the Holden Special, and Holden Premier models. Initially, the HK range of models included the basic Holden Belmont, the Kingswood, and the luxury-oriented Holden Premier, all of which were manufactured in a choice of sedan and station wagon bodies. Commercial variants were offered in three types: coupé utility, panel van, and later from 1971, a heavy-duty Holden One Tonner cab chassis. The utility (ute) version was originally marketed in both Belmont and Kingswood configurations. However, after the Belmont name was deleted from commercials at the end of HQ in late 1974, the base model commercials were sold only with the "Holden" badge.

The Chevrolet Captiva is a compact crossover SUV developed by General Motors. The first generation was developed by GM Korea, based on the GM Theta platform and derived from the S3X concept car revealed in 2004. The crossover straddles the entry-level SUV segments. Released in 2006, it was sold internationally as Chevrolet Captiva, in Australia as Holden Captiva and in South Korea as Daewoo Winstorm until 2011, when the international name was adopted. The Theta platform also underpins the Opel Antara. On 13 September 2018, Chevrolet announced that it is ending production on the first generation Captiva and replacing it worldwide with the Equinox. The second generation Captiva, which is a rebadged Baojun 530, was introduced in Colombia in November 2018 and Thailand in March 2019.

As half of the Legislative Council's terms expired at each state election, half of these members were elected at the 2002 state election with terms expiring in 2010, while the other half were elected at the 2006 state election with terms expiring in 2014.

Statesman is an automotive marque created in 1971 by Holden and sold in Australasia. Statesman vehicles were sold through Holden dealerships, and were initially based on the mainstream Holden HQ station wagon platform, thereby providing more interior room and generally more luxurious features than their Holden sedan siblings. Production ceased with the last of the WB series cars in 1984.

Holden HQ

The Holden HQ series is a range of automobiles that was produced by Holden in Australia from 1971 to 1974. The HQ was released on 15 July 1971, replacing the Holden HG series. It was the first ground up redesign of the Holden line since its original release in 1948, and included an all-new body, chassis, and suspension. The HQ was later developed into a series of successor models, finally ending production when the WB series was discontinued in 1984.

State elections were held in South Australia on 8 March 1947. All 39 seats in the South Australian House of Assembly were up for election. The incumbent Liberal and Country League government led by Premier of South Australia Thomas Playford IV defeated the opposition Australian Labor Party led by Leader of the Opposition Robert Richards.

James Alexander Holden was the businessman who founded the South Australian company which eventually produced the Holden automobile.
