Men of the Year are a professional wrestling tag team composed of Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky. The team performs in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Ring of Honor (ROH).

History

All Elite Wrestling (2021)

On the March 29 episode of Dark: Elevation , Page and Sky formed an alliance when Page attacked Matt Sydal following Sky's victory over him. [1] [2] Shortly afterwards, they began feuding with Darby Allin and Sting, [3] but were defeated in a tag team match at Double or Nothing. [4] On the June 18 episode of Dynamite (taped June 6), Page and Sky, now going by the Men of the Year, defeated Allin in a two on one handicap match. [5] On the July 14 episode of Dynamite, Page was defeated by Allin in a coffin match, ending the feud. [6]

The Men of the Year would later align themselves with Dan Lambert of American Top Team, [7] and from then on, accompanied Lambert while he cut his promos. [8] [9] This continued until the September 15 episode of Dynamite, where The Inner Circle's Chris Jericho interrupted Lambert and a match between the Men of the Year and Jericho and Jake Hager was set for the September 24 episode of Rampage , [10] in which they were victorious. [11]

On the October 6 episode of Dynamite, it was announced that dos Santos would be making his professional wrestling debut in a trios match the following week. [12] On the October 15 episode of Rampage, dos Santos and Men of the Year defeated Jericho, Hager and Sammy Guevara, after interference from VanZant and Masvidal. [13] On the October 16 episode of Dynamite, the Inner Circle returned as a quintet for the first time in months, with Santana and Ortiz coming back. Jericho wanted a five-on-five tag team match, but Lambert told him that Men of the Year were moving on, and they have bigger plans which include championships. [14] On the October 23 episode of Dynamite, Lambert told Guevara that ATT and Men of the Year will have the ten-man tag match, but only if he defends the AEW TNT Championship against Page. Lambert also added that if Guevara loses, he leaves the Inner Circle for good. Guevara accepted, but stated that if he wins, the Inner Circle choose who will represent ATT at Full Gear. [15] Over the next two weeks, Guevara defeated Page, [16] and Inner Circle chose dos Santos, Arlovski and Lambert as ATT's representatives in a Minnesota street fight. [17] On the November 10 episode of Dynamite, the Inner Circle were jumped by Men of the Year and ATT on the entrance ramp, resulting in a beatdown. Lambert and Men of the Year cornered Jericho and took him to the ring, before Lambert performed an assisted powerbomb through a table on Jericho. Lambert then mockingly put Jericho in his own hold, the Walls of Jericho , although he was keen to stress that it is called a Boston crab, referencing Rocky Johnson. [18] On November 13, at Full Gear, the Inner Circle defeated ATT and Men of the Year, with Jericho hitting a frogsplash on Lambert for the pin. [19]

On the December 8 episode of Dynamite, Page announced that Lambert would be returning to AEW. [20] Following a confrontation with Cody Rhodes, [21] On the March 9 episode of Dynamite, Sky defeated Sammy Guevara for the AEW TNT Championship. Towards the end, Guevara's partner Tay Conti argued with Page and was blindsided by Paige VanZant. Guevara was distracted and this allowed Sky to hit the TKO on him to win the match. Post-match, VanZant signed her AEW contract on Conti's prone body. [22] The following week on Dynamite, Sky made his first successful title defense, when he defeated Wardlow. [23] On the June 7, episode of Dynamite, Sky lost the title to Wardlow and afterwards the team quietly disbanded.

Ring of Honor (2023–present)

At Final Battle, the team reunited as faces with the exception of Lambert, when Sky assisted Page against Tony Nese.

He previously wrestled in AEW, where he is a one-time former AEW World Champion, with his reign being the longest in AEW World title history. He is also the current holder of the AEW Dynamite Diamond Ring, which he has won for five consecutive years.

The inaugural champion was Cody Rhodes. The current champion is Christian Cage, who is in his second reign. He won the title by defeating previous champion Adam Copeland at Worlds End on December 30, 2023; Cage had lost the title to Copeland just minutes before and invoked his Patriarch member Killswitch's guaranteed title shot as his own to win back the title.

The 2021 Double or Nothing was the third annual Double or Nothing professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). It took place during Memorial Day weekend on May 30, 2021. The event was primarily held at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida; however, portions of the main event match were pre-taped at the nearby TIAA Bank Field. It was the first Double or Nothing event to be held on a Sunday. It was also AEW's last PPV to be held at Daily's Place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Double or Nothing was originally scheduled to be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada on May 29, but was moved to Daily's Place and pushed back a day due to the pandemic. The event aired through traditional PPV providers, as well as on B/R Live in North America and FITE TV internationally.

While the majority of the event aired live from Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida, the Elite Deletion match was taped one week prior at Matt Hardy's home, The Hardy Compound, in Cameron, North Carolina. The event aired through traditional PPV outlets, as well as on B/R Live in North America and FITE TV internationally.

It was also AEW's first pay-per-view held outside of Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. The 2022 Double or Nothing was the fourth annual Double or Nothing professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). It took place during Memorial Day weekend on May 29, 2022, at the T-Mobile Arena in the Las Vegas suburb of Paradise, Nevada. The event returned Double or Nothing to its home of Las Vegas, after the previous two years had to be held at Daily's Place and the adjacent TIAA Bank Field stadium in Jacksonville, Florida due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

American Top Team is a villainous professional wrestling stable led by Dan Lambert, and has consisted of MMA fighters such as Jorge Masvidal, Junior dos Santos, Andrei Arlovski, Paige VanZant, Austin Vanderford and Dalton Rosta. The team's gimmick is based on each member's legitimate MMA background.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Beach Break (2022)</span> All Elite Wrestling two-part television special

The 2022 Beach Break was the second annual and final Beach Break professional wrestling television special produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The two-part event was broadcast as special episodes of AEW's weekly television programs, Wednesday Night Dynamite and Friday Night Rampage. It took place on January 26, 2022, at Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dynamite aired live on TBS while Rampage aired on tape delay on TNT on January 28. This would be the final Beach Break as an event was not held in 2023.

AEW Quake by the Lake was a professional wrestling two-part television special produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). It was held on August 10, 2022, at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, encompassing the broadcasts of AEW's weekly television programs, Wednesday Night Dynamite and Friday Night Rampage. Dynamite aired live on TBS while Rampage aired on tape delay on August 12 on TNT. The event's name is in reference to it taking place in Minneapolis, which is known for its many lakes.
