Menorah Medical Center is an acute care hospital located in Overland Park, Kansas at 5721 West 119th Street. It is part of the HCA Midwest Division.
The Jewish Memorial Hospital Association was established in 1926 by the Jewish community of the Kansas City area with the goal of establishing a Jewish community hospital with a Kosher kitchen in Kansas City, Missouri. On September 7, 1931, the association opened Menorah Hospital (also known as Jewish Memorial Hospital) as a 158-bed hospital at 4949 Rockhill Road, across from the campus of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. [1] [2] The hospital changed its name to Menorah Medical Center in 1951 and merged with Health Midwest in 1993–1994. In 1996, the hospital moved to Overland Park, with the Stowers Institute acquiring the hospital's former site. The hospital was acquired by HCA Healthcare in 2003 as part of their purchase of Health Midwest. [3] [4]
The campus includes a doctors' building and outpatient clinics. The services that it feature includes emergency, intensive care, oncology, medical-surgical, labor and delivery, rehabilitation, and extensive outpatient care.

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, is a 504-bed hospital with attendant outpatient services, owned by the AdventHealth hospital system, located in Merriam in Johnson County, Kansas. In addition to the hospital itself it has a free-standing outpatient surgery, a community health education building, five physician office buildings and an associate child care center. The University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine, established 1971, is one of three medical schools located near downtown Kansas City. The school offers an accelerated combined Bachelor/MD program based on a six-year curriculum. The school of medicine admits students into the program directly from high school and within six years the graduates attain an undergraduate and a doctor of medicine degree (BA/MD) from UMKC. The curriculum integrates the liberal arts, basic sciences, and clinical sciences with a team approach to learning. More than 2,000 physicians have graduated from the UMKC–SOM six-year combined degree program. The program is extremely competitive. For the 2015-2016 application cycle, at least 40% of all successful out of state applicants received admissions prep.
