Cole Stevenson, known by the stage name Merkules, is a Canadian rapper from Surrey, British Columbia. [2] He is known for his "hangover-rap" style of music. [3]

Career

Stevenson began rhyming at age 15 under the name Merk Mikz. He met Snak the Ripper at a concert, and Stevenson subsequently joined his tour as a hype man. In 2011, the two began collaborating on music. [4]

At the age of 16, Stevenson was randomly attacked while walking home at night. He received permanent facial scars after being beaten and stabbed. [4] No arrests were made. [5] His 2016 album Scars drew inspiration from the event. [6]

In 2017, Stevenson released the album Trust Your Gut. [7] He followed it in 2018 with the album Cole. [8] Stevenson was set to tour with Gucci Mane in May 2019 before dropping out. [6] [9] His album Special Occasion was released in October of that year. [10] The song "Bass" from the album was featured in the 2020 video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 . [11]

In 2020, Stevenson released the album Apply Pressure through his label Merkules Music and BMG. [12] [13] He was subsequently featured on the talk show of Dr. Phil. [12] In 2022, Merkules released the single "I'm Here" on Death Row Records. [14] As of 2023, Merkules has had over 900,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. [15]

He is credited, along with fellow Atlanta-based rappers T.I. and Jeezy, with pioneering the hip hop subgenre trap music for mainstream audiences into the 2000s. His debut studio album, Trap House (2005) was released by the independent label Big Cat Records and entered the Billboard 200; it was followed by Hard to Kill (2006), which spawned his first Billboard Hot 100 entry with its 2007 single, "Freaky Gurl". That same year, he released his third album, Trap-A-Thon before signing with Atlantic Records to release his fourth album, Back to the Trap House (2007).

His 2010 follow-up single, "No Hands" reached number 13 on the chart and received diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Records and Asylum Records. It serves as a sequel to his previous studio release The State vs. Radric Davis (2009), which was released after the Atlanta rapper's incarceration from prison. The album debuted at number 4 on the US Billboard 200, with first-week sales of 61,450 copies; it has sold an estimated 169,500 copies as of the week ending of August 21, 2011.

Lontrell Donell Williams, Jr., better known by his stage name Pooh Shiesty, is an American rapper from Memphis, Tennessee. He signed with Gucci Mane's 1017 Records, an imprint of Atlantic Records in 2020, he rose to prominence following his collaborations with the label's founder and cohorts. That same year, his single "Back in Blood" peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. It preceded the release of his debut commercial mixtape Shiesty Season (2021), which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200. His stage name was given by his late brother, who adapted his childhood nickname "Mr. Pooh" with the vernacular slang term "shiesty"—referential of his lifestyle.

Kwame Khalil Brown, better known by his stage name Foogiano, is an American rapper from Greensboro, Georgia. He signed with Gucci Mane's record label 1017 Records in 2020, and is best known for his single "Molly ", which released in May of that year. His debut studio album, Gutta Baby (2020) was released the following November.

Alexander Woods, better known by his stage name Big Scarr, was an American rapper from Memphis, Tennessee. He signed with Gucci Mane's 1017 Records in 2020, and released his single "SoIcyBoyz" in June of that year. His debut mixtape, Big Grim Reaper (2021) peaked at number 25 on the Billboard 200 and was met with positive reception.

Breath of Fresh Air is the sixteenth studio album by American rapper Gucci Mane. It was released through Atlantic and 1017 on October 17, 2023. The album features guest appearances from Lil Baby, the late Young Dolph, Li Rye, Sett, Key Glock, Mac Critter, J. Cole, Mike Will Made It, Kodak Black, DaBaby, 21 Savage, Roddy Ricch, and Nardo Wick. Production was handled by Mike Will Made It himself, J. White Did It, Zaytoven, Murda Beatz, and Tay Keith, among others. A double album that was supported by nine singles, it was released on the sixth wedding anniversary of Mane and his wife, Jamaican model Keyshia Ka'oir. Mane announced the album along with its title, cover art, and release date on June 26, 2023, and shared its tracklist in collaboration with Spotify hip hop playlist RapCaviar on October 11, 2023.

Channing Nicole Larry, known professionally as Enchanting, was an American rapper from Fort Worth, Texas. She was signed to Gucci Mane's record label, 1017 Records, and gained initial recognition for her 2022 single, "Track & Field", featuring fellow rapper Kaliii, which gained over six million YouTube views as of the time of her death. She frequently collaborated with Gucci Mane, alongside Big Scarr, Coi Leray, Foogiano, and Kaliii.
