The Methodist Girls' High School founded as the Wesleyan Girls' High School is a secondary school for girls established by James Taylor, an uncle of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor under the auspices of the Wesleyan Society on 1 January 1880. The school is affiliated to the Methodist Boys' High School (Sierra Leone) established in Freetown by the May family under the auspices of the Methodist Society.

Methodism, also called the Methodist movement, is a Protestant Christian tradition whose origins, doctrine and practice derive from the life and teachings of John Wesley. George Whitefield and John's brother Charles Wesley were also significant early leaders in the movement. They were named Methodists for "the methodical way in which they carried out their Christian faith". Methodism originated as a revival movement within Anglicanism with roots in the Church of England in the 18th century and became a separate denomination after Wesley's death. The movement spread throughout the British Empire, the United States and beyond because of vigorous missionary work, and today has about 80 million adherents worldwide.

Langrishe Place, Methodist Chapel or Langrishe Hall was a Methodist Chapel established in Langrishe Place, Summerhill, Dublin, it was to provide a place for the congregation from the Free Church, Great Charles Street, Dublin, which was too big for their numbers, and the congregation were unable to clear the debt on the Charles St. church. Originally set up in a rented premise in Langrishe Place in 1825, enlarged in 1830, the premises along with two houses were purchased and the chapel was rebuilt in 1835.
