Metro Diner is an American casual dining restaurant chain headquartered in Tampa, Florida. It has 58 locations throughout the United States and was featured in an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2010.
Metro Diner has roots back to 1938 when the first diner was opened in Jacksonville, Florida. It was not officially branded as Metro Diner until 1992 and was purchased by brothers Mark and John Davoli (Jr.) in 2000. [1] Their father joined them a few years later and expanded to several locations in the Jacksonville area, including Mandarin, Ortega, and Jacksonville Beach. In 2010, Metro Diner was featured in an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives . [2]
ConSul Hospitality Group, made up of Chris Sullivan and Hugh Connerty, partnered with the Davoli family in 2014 to help expand the chain. At that time, the chain had nine locations. [1] By 2018, Metro Diner opened its 50th restaurant [3] and by 2020 had 58 locations throughout the United States. [4]
Its menu is classic American diner food. It is known for items such as chicken and waffles and meatloaf and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. [3] It also has a location known as Metro Diner Express for contactless ordering and payment, developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States in 2020. [5]

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is an American food reality television series that premiered on April 23, 2007, on the Food Network. It is hosted by Guy Fieri. The show originally began as a one-off special that aired on November 6, 2006. The show features a "road trip" concept, similar to Road Tasted, Giada's Weekend Getaways, and $40 a Day. Fieri travels around the United States, Canada, and Mexico looking at various diners, drive-in restaurants, and dive bars. He has also featured restaurants in European cities, including London and Florence, as well as in Cuba.
The Original Pancake House (TOPH) is a chain of pancake houses across the United States. They have franchises in Canada that started in 1958 and are still operating. They have recently expanded into both Japan and South Korea. They follow traditional recipes and ingredients for their pancakes but offer other standard diner fare as well. Taco Bus restaurants serve Mexican food in the Tampa, Florida area. The restaurants began as a popular food truck on Hillsborough Avenue. A second location followed on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, Florida and a restaurant was added on Franklin Street in downtown Tampa. Taco Bus opened their fourth location near USF on Fletcher Avenue. Rene Valenzuela is chef and owner of the business. A location in Brandon at 311 South Falkenburg is scheduled to open in spring 2013. The USF location was reported to be open 24 hours.

Byways Cafe was a diner in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon, United States. Owners, Collin McFadden and Megan Brinkley, opened the restaurant in 1999, serving American breakfast and brunch comfort foods such as corned beef hash, omelets, and pancakes. Guy Fieri visited the diner for a 2007 episode of the Food Network show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Byways received generally positive receptions and was voted the city's "best brunch spot" by readers of The Oregonian in 2016. It closed in late 2019, after the owners were unable to reach a lease agreement with the landlord.
The Arleta Library Bakery & Cafe was a restaurant in Portland, Oregon, in the United States. The business operated in southeast Portland's Mt. Scott-Arleta neighborhood for approximately fifteen years; Arleta was established by owners Sarah and Nick Iannarone in 2005 and closed in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Guy Fieri had visited the restaurant for an episode of the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Yonder was a Southern restaurant in Portland, Oregon. Chef Maya Lovelace opened Yonder in northeast Portland's Cully neighborhood in 2019. The business was named one of the city's ten best new restaurants of 2019 by The Oregonian and was featured on an episode of the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2020. Yonder closed on June 26, 2022, when Lovelace converted the space into Hissyfit.
